Market analysis on private security and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In a reality of the environment loaded with a constant struggle to find a solution to the growing security problems, current concepts of protection in which the state through public safety has a monopolistic status in terms of protection of lives, rights, liberties, assets, laws and order, etc., have not evolved to a point where it could provide satisfactory results. However, private security sector established itself in the mid 90-ies of the last century in most countries of the Adriatic region, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, and from that moment, initial activities towards its subsequent legal regulation have commenced. As a result, today Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a modern democratic state in the Adriatic region, along with the existing standard security subsystems such as the police, military or intelligence, has a so-called “private security system”.
