Synology Releases ActiveProtect Manager 1.1 to Strengthen Enterprise Cyber Resilience and Compliance

Synology announced the release of the ActiveProtect Manager (APM) 1.1. This update is designed to support more workload support, strengthen security, improve tiering options, and expand compliance to help organizations achieve greater cyber resilience.

“As cybersecurity threats intensify and IT budgets tighten, the market is demanding an integrated, secure, and scalable solution that delivers optimal ROI,” said JiaYu Liu, Executive Vice President at Synology. “ActiveProtect is our answer, and the market’s strong response has reinforced our commitment to continue advancing our solutions.”

APM 1.1 further bolsters enterprise cyber resilience

The latest APM release introduces significant improvements to help organizations strengthen their data protection strategy. Here are the four major highlights:

  • Expanded workload support:In addition to the existing on-premises and SaaS workloads, ActiveProtect now offers enhanced support for agent-based backups for Proxmox.
  • Boosted cyber resilience: APM 1.1 enhances data security by introducing a new Allow Access Mode that offers granular network control, allowing inbound traffic only from whitelisted IP addresses during backup operations. Upon completion—or if backups finish ahead of schedule—the system automatically reverts to full isolation mode.
  • Broadened tiering options:In addition to the previously supported cloud and on-premises tiering destinations in Amazon S3, Synology SA and HD series, the upcoming release will incorporate support for Wasabi and selected Synology XS/XS+ devices.
  • Streamlined compliance support: The new update enables organizations to perform multi-site, multi-geo backup to maintain data at designated geographical locations, thereby fulfilling local data residency requirements.
