TVT Demonstrates Night-Time Performance Differences: E4B Outperforms E3B-A and Smartphone Cameras

TVT Digital Technology has published the results of a real-world night vision test conducted in completely dark conditions, comparing the TD-9442E4B and E3B-A camera models with a smartphone camera and the human eye. The test was carried out in a pitch-black environment to realistically assess camera performance in extreme low-light scenarios. According to the manufacturer, the TD-9442E4B with infrared illumination enabled delivered sharp details with clean and stable footage. The E3B-A model, tested without IR support, produced a significantly darker and blurrier image with limited usability in total darkness. Under the same conditions, the smartphone camera and the human eye were unable to capture meaningful scene details.

TVT highlights that the E4B benefits from advanced low-noise image processing, resulting in clearer and more usable night-time recordings. An additional advantage is its wide dynamic range, which helps balance bright and dark areas within the same scene. The company states that the test confirms the advantages of professional video surveillance cameras over consumer devices in low-light environments.

Ajax Systems Enhances iOS Apps with Smarter Camera Zoom Navigation

Ajax Systems has introduced a new upgrade to its iOS applications, further improving the user experience when viewing video from surveillance cameras. The new feature enables smarter navigation when zooming into video footage, both in live view and during playback of archived recordings.

When users zoom in, a thumbnail of the full frame is now displayed, clearly highlighting the area currently in focus. This makes it significantly easier to navigate within the image and accurately track details without losing the overall context of the scene. The enhancement is particularly useful when analysing large areas, perimeters, or zones with multiple points of interest, further increasing the efficiency of video surveillance within the Ajax ecosystem.

The new functionality is available in the latest versions of the Ajax Security System 3.37 and Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers 2.37 apps for iOS devices, and can be accessed after updating the apps via the App Store. With this update, Ajax Systems continues to focus on the continuous improvement of its software solutions, with a strong emphasis on intuitiveness, responsiveness, and professional usability of security systems.

TOA: Voice Alarm System Built to the Highest Safety Standards

Open, urban, and elegant, the new Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier forms the vibrant heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity district. Spanning a total area of 419,000 square metres, this contemporary urban development seamlessly combines retail, business facilities, residential spaces, culture, and entertainment, creating a dynamic meeting place for both residents and visitors. In such an environment, ensuring user safety plays a pivotal role.

For the so-called “Core” zone, covering approximately 100,000 square metres and encompassing retail areas, a food court, and leisure facilities, a voice alarm system was implemented in line with the highest safety requirements. The planning and installation were carried out by Hamburg-based partner ELA PRO, with the TOA VX-3000 selected as the solution, deployed in a fully redundant configuration in accordance with Safety Level 3 under the VDE 0833-4 standard.

This safety level is intended for facilities where maximum operational reliability is essential, comparable to the standards applied in nuclear power plants. In line with these requirements, the system was installed across four locations as spatially separated A and B systems, while interconnection is ensured via redundant fibre-optic rings, guaranteeing uninterrupted operation even in the event of a network failure.

The project represents the largest and most technically demanding TOA voice alarm system implemented in the EMEA region to date. It comprises a total of 18 system racks housed in separate technical rooms for the A and B configurations, alongside approximately 6,000 loudspeakers and 300 amplifiers dedicated to evacuation announcements and background music. Paging stations are installed at information points, within office areas, and in the security control centre, while automated safety messages are preconfigured for evacuation scenarios. In addition, fire brigade paging stations are fully integrated into both systems.

The scale of the complex, exceptionally high safety requirements, and demanding architectural features – including extensive glass roof structures – posed significant challenges during the planning and acoustic design phases. The large number of amplifiers and technical interfaces also required intensive coordination among all parties involved. Thanks to the close collaboration between ELA PRO and TOA, one of the most complex voice alarm systems in the EMEA region has been successfully delivered, combining reliability, flexibility, and a high level of safety.

Hikvision, one of the world’s largest global manufacturers of innovative video surveillance solutions and AI-powered smart technologies, today held a presentation and its traditional annual gathering in Belgrade under the title “New Year, New Technology, New Vision.” The event brought together more than 200 distributors and system integrators from across the region and was hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

This exclusive year-end gathering focused on innovation, strengthening partnerships, and presenting Hikvision’s latest technological achievements.

“We continuously invest in the development of new technologies, innovation, and progress, while at the same time helping our clients to continuously improve and grow,” said Milica Gajić, Marketing Manager at Hikvision.

During the presentation, it was emphasized that by applying advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence in video surveillance and security solutions—integrated into cameras and software platforms—Hikvision significantly enhances accuracy, efficiency, and the speed of video content analysis. These technological advances were presented by Marko Matijević, Presales Manager of Hikvision’s Adriatic Group for the markets of Serbia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.

“We had the opportunity to see a significant technological leap compared to existing solutions in the field of technical security. The application of AI algorithms enables systems to learn, process data faster, and become far more functional,” Matijević emphasized.

The presentation was divided into two thematic sections. The first focused on CCTV technologies, highlighting the ColorVu 3.0 and AcuSeek solutions, while the second covered non-CCTV products, including AX Hybrid Pro G2 alarm systems, access control solutions, intercom systems, professional displays, and the HikCentral Professional V3.0.1 integration platform, which brings together Hikvision’s complete security ecosystem.

 

SoundCloud Confirms Cyberattack, User Data Partially Compromised

SoundCloud has confirmed it was the target of a cyberattack in which hackers gained unauthorized access to data belonging to approximately 20% of the platform’s users. The company said the incident was detected after suspicious activity was identified within an ancillary administrative system, prompting the immediate activation of internal incident response protocols. An investigation carried out with the support of external cybersecurity experts found that the attackers accessed a limited set of data, including email addresses and information already visible on public user profiles.

SoundCloud emphasized that sensitive information such as passwords or financial data was not exposed. Nevertheless, users have been advised to remain vigilant for potential phishing attempts that could follow the incident. With the platform estimated to have more than 100 million users, the breach could affect tens of millions of accounts.

The company stated that the attackers have been removed from its systems, although the platform subsequently faced DDoS attacks, two of which temporarily disrupted the web version of the service. Issues with VPN access reported by users in recent days were linked to security-related configuration changes introduced in response to the incident, and SoundCloud said it is actively working to resolve those problems.

Hikvision Announces AX PRO Firmware V1.3.1 with Expanded Device Support

Hikvision has announced the release of the new AX PRO firmware version V1.3.1, delivering a range of technical and functional enhancements aimed at more efficient security system management, greater installation flexibility, and an improved user experience. The update is designed for professional users of AX PRO wireless alarm systems and will be available via the Hik-Connect and Hik-Partner Pro platforms.

The new firmware version introduces support for additional peripheral devices, further expanding system compatibility. At the same time, system protocols have been upgraded, including the implementation of OTAP (Over-The-Air Programming) and the Intercom Service protocol. Special attention has also been given to optimizing ARC configuration, contributing to more stable and reliable communication with alarm receiving centers.

One of the key updates relates to the control panel, which now supports Double Zone Wiring, providing greater flexibility in system design. In addition, the AX PRO system can now be integrated with a wider range of IP cameras, including HeatPro thermal cameras and AcuSense models, further strengthening the synergy between alarm systems and video surveillance. The limitation on the number of sirens within the system has been removed, allowing for easier adaptation in more complex installations.

At the application and user interface level, firmware V1.3.1 introduces a new installation wizard that simplifies the initial system setup process. Users now have access to customizable shortcuts and widgets on the home screen, while the overall interface has been further streamlined to enable faster and more intuitive system operation.

Among the functional improvements, highlights include a new detector deactivation option, as well as support for muting sirens during the “stay arm” mode, enhancing user comfort without compromising security.

Axis Communications has introduced the AXIS Q9227-SLV Corner Camera, a next-generation specialized security camera designed to withstand impacts and reduce the risk of self-harm, intended for high-security environments such as prison cells and psychiatric wards. The camera features a compact, anti-ligature design with IK11 certification, minimizing the risk of tampering while ensuring long-term reliability in demanding conditions.

The AXIS Q9227-SLV offers 5 MP resolution and a wide field of view with no blind spots, providing complete coverage of monitored spaces. An integrated hidden speaker and microphone, with on/off control and voice enhancement, enable clear two-way audio communication. The camera is equipped with 940 nm invisible IR illumination for discreet monitoring in total darkness, while a white LED allows key details to be captured in color.

Powered by a deep learning processing unit (DLPU), the device can run advanced analytics directly on the camera.
