Pioneering Engineer at Axis Honored for Shaping the Future of Video Surveillance
Recognised for his transformative work in video surveillance, Axis Communications’ Stefan Lundberg has been selected as a 2025 Business Innovator by Security Business magazine. The Security Business Innovator Awards are entirely peer-nominated and highlight individuals whose visionary work continues to redefine what is possible in security technology.
Lundberg has played a central role in the design and evolution of the ARTPEC system-on-chip (SoC), a cornerstone in modern IP-based video surveillance. As the leading architect of Axis’ proprietary SoC platform since the 1990s, his work has enabled the development of high-performance, cyber-secure network cameras tailored for professional security applications.
His influence, however, extends well beyond Axis. Lundberg’s technological contributions have helped reshape the security industry as a whole — from the pivotal shift from analogue to IP-based systems, to setting new benchmarks in performance and security. His work has served as a catalyst for innovation across the sector. Starting with the development of the Neteye 200, the first-ever network camera, Lundberg has remained at the forefront of innovation — most recently driving the adoption of the AV1 video codec in surveillance applications, further enhancing efficiency and image quality.
