Milestone Introduces XProtect 2026 R2 and New Arcules Enhancements
Milestone Systems has introduced XProtect 2026 R2 and new enhancements to its Arcules cloud platform, designed to simplify video surveillance management, improve situational awareness, and increase the reliability of on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployments. The latest version of XProtect introduces Maps, a feature that brings cameras, alarms, connected devices, and live video together on geographic maps and building floor plans, enabling operators to locate incidents faster and access relevant footage, with availability planned for future Smart Client releases.
The new Sticky Notes feature allows users to attach operational notes to individual camera views, making it easier to share information between shifts and maintain consistent security procedures. Administration of large-scale systems has also been simplified through centralized system logging with Server Logs and automatic inheritance of access permissions for newly added cameras and devices. “Our customers are managing more cameras, more sites and more information than ever, and they need that complexity to work for them rather than against them,” said Andrew Burnett, CTO of Milestone Systems, emphasizing the importance of simpler management and clearer incident context.
Meanwhile, Arcules introduces cloud video backup through Edge Gateways, using a lower-resolution secondary stream to reduce bandwidth consumption and storage requirements. Integration with Triton Sensors enables environmental and occupancy data to be combined with video and alarm information, while additional enhancements include encrypted device communication, faster local video streaming, and more reliable hybrid system management. XProtect customers can also remotely monitor system health through Remote Manager, available with Milestone Care Plus, while new Arcules capabilities are delivered automatically as part of the cloud service.
