asmag.com marks 29 successful years and opens its archive from the 1990s

The specialized security media asmag.com is celebrating 29 years of operation by looking back at its digital beginnings, from a time when the internet had not yet assumed the role it plays today. To mark the anniversary, the editorial team published an archival view of its very first website, which primarily served as an extension of the print magazine rather than a standalone information channel. Among the content from that period are advertisements and articles such as “1997/98 Hottest Dome Cameras from Japan,” which at the time were available exclusively in the printed edition. This archival snapshot today offers an interesting testimony to the development of the security industry, as well as to the transformation of the media that cover it.

The team at asmag.com notes that the contrast between those early days and today’s global digital platform best illustrates how technology, the industry, and the way information is consumed have changed over nearly three decades.

To mark the anniversary, readers are invited to explore a special “gem” from the asmag.com archive, available at https://lnkd.in/gapRgPnG, while the Internet Archive (archive.org) has preserved additional fascinating records of the early stages of the platform’s online presence, accessible at https://lnkd.in/g4bKyfAF.

The editorial team of a&s Adria extends its sincere congratulations to our colleagues at asmag.com on this valuable milestone, with best wishes for many more successful years of professional reporting and coverage of technological innovation.

ASSA ABLOY Megadoor solutions enable safe access for the world’s largest industrial openings

ASSA ABLOY, through its Megadoor solutions, protects some of the world’s largest industrial openings, including shipyards, aircraft hangars, and wind turbine factories. These doors are designed for large-scale facilities and demanding operating conditions, where safety, stability, and reliability are critical. Megadoor systems can reach widths of more than 50 meters and heights exceeding 30 meters, while maintaining stable operation in strong winds, low temperatures, and coastal environments. Each solution is tailored to the specific project and includes reinforced materials for cold climates, anti-fall safety mechanisms, and storm locks for severe weather conditions.

The doors operate on a vertical folding principle, with metal beams and durable fabric panels enabling smooth lifting and folding into horizontal sections. Most projects begin with a detailed, customized design phase involving sales, engineering, production, and project management teams working together. Installation is carried out using the door’s own hoisting system, reducing the need for cranes and lowering risk at sensitive sites such as airports.

Originally developed in Sweden in the early 1970s, Megadoor safety doors are now seeing growing global demand, particularly in the renewable energy sector, where large openings are essential for transporting wind turbine components.

Malicious Chrome Extensions Stole Conversations With AI Tools

As reported by the web portal SecurityWeek, security researchers have warned about two malicious Chrome extensions that secretly collected browser data, including users’ conversations with AI tools such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek. According to a report by OX Security, the extensions impersonated a legitimate add-on associated with a well-known AI service, enabling them to surpass 900,000 downloads. Although users were asked to consent to the collection of allegedly anonymous analytics data, the extensions in practice harvested complete AI conversation histories.

In addition, they collected URLs from open browser tabs, search queries, session identifiers, and other sensitive authentication data. Such activity could have resulted in the exposure of internal corporate domains and details about organizational IT infrastructures. Depending on how affected users interacted with AI tools, the compromised data may have included source code, personal data, confidential business information, and legal content. OX Security warns that this type of data can be abused for corporate espionage, identity theft, or targeted phishing campaigns.

The malicious extensions have since been removed from the Google Chrome Web Store, and users are advised to uninstall them immediately and review the security of their systems.
