MOBOTIX Thermal Cameras Receive FM Approved Certification for Fire Detection

MOBOTIX thermal cameras have received FM Approved certification for fire detection solutions, confirming their suitability for use in demanding industrial environments. Certification according to the ANSI/FM 3260 standard covers detection at distances of up to 50 metres, with thermal technology enabling elevated temperatures to be identified before visible fire develops. The system is designed to operate reliably even in the presence of dust, steam, and other challenging conditions typical of industrial facilities.

At the heart of the solution is the MOBOTIX M73, which supports up to 20 individually configurable measurement areas, application-specific temperature thresholds, and multi-stage alarm logic, with the option of visual verification using a 4K image sensor. Unlike dedicated standalone fire detection systems, the modular IP-based platform can be integrated with existing infrastructure and connected to FACP, SCADA, and VMS systems, simplifying the expansion and modernization of existing installations. The solution is particularly suited to applications such as waste and recycling facilities, battery storage, industrial sites, logistics, and warehousing.
