Motorola-Owned Company Enables Stable 4K Broadcast of the Oscars
Silvus Technologies, now part of Motorola Solutions and specialized in advanced wireless communication systems, provided the critical infrastructure for video transmission during the 98th Academy Awards. At this globally watched event, Silvus technology was used to support the live television broadcast through robotic camera systems from RailCam, connected via StreamCaster MANET radios. These systems enabled the capture of dynamic and iconic shots that were delivered to audiences worldwide.
Thanks to MN-MIMO technology, stable and reliable 4K video streaming in real time was achieved, even in high-mobility conditions and complex radio frequency environments. A key challenge was the heavy spectrum congestion typical of events of this scale.
To ensure uninterrupted connectivity, the system utilized the Spectrum Dominance 2.0 suite, which includes advanced anti-jamming, low probability of interception/detection, and network protection capabilities. A crucial feature, MAN-IA, automatically detects interference and shifts the network to the optimal frequency in real time.
This approach ensured a stable, low-latency transmission—essential for live production. The deployment of such solutions at an event like the Oscars highlights the growing use of technologies originally developed for demanding security and tactical scenarios in commercial and media applications. With this project, Silvus Technologies further reinforces its position as a provider of robust communication systems capable of meeting the demands of diverse industries—from security operations to the world’s largest entertainment events.
