IndigoVision are excited to release a new Access Control Integration with Nedap

The new IndigoVision Nedap AEOS Integration allows events from Nedap AEOS systems to be seamlessly combined with IndigoVision’s security management solution, Control Center, giving complete video and alarm management in a single user interface.
All of IndigoVision’s Integrations are designed with your security in mind and the Nedap AEOS Integration is no different. Since 1980, Nedap has been a leader in the design and manufacture of electronic access control systems. With the new IndigoVision Nedap AEOS Integration, you can trigger live video, move PTZ cameras, start recordings and send notification emails automatically, helping to dramatically decrease operator response time.
Events from Nedap AEOS can be forwarded to Control Center allowing operators to respond to incidents from a single interface. Examples of supported Nedap AEOS events are, direct door alarm, door manual unlock, door open too long and badge no access events.
Commenting on the Nedap AEOS Integration, IndigoVision’s Software Product Manager Giles Raine said, “Nedap’s AEOS access control is clearly growing rapidly in the marketplace, there’s a lot of positive buzz about it – so it’s great to be adding this integration to our portfolio. Nedap themselves have been outstanding in their support during our development of the integration, making them a pleasure to do business with.”
IndigoVision’s Nedap AEOS Integration is not only designed towards enhancing your security but also to give you the flexibility and choice to create a custom security management solution that works for you. When you use any one of IndigoVision’s Integrations you can be sure that you won’t be let down.

Hikvision embarks on second pan-European roadshow in 2019

Hikvision, the world’s leading supplier of innovative video surveillance products and solutions, will hold a new roadshow experience in 2019, hosted in a truck. From February to July, three separate trucks will visit 69 European cities. Under the theme “Embracing Convergence for Success”, Hikvision shows its integrated solutions comprising video surveillance, intrusion, alarm and access control coupled with the latest advances in AI technology to interested parties all over Europe.

At the core of the show lies the integration of products and services into a total solution, with a focus on small and medium business (SMB) needs. This total solution includes the simplified management of all channels – whether video surveillance, intrusion prevention or access control – into one platform. For Hikvision, integration is a critical factor for success as it enables partners and customers to save time and resources, making their systems easier to use and expand as well as outputs easier to analyse, for example with integrated, multi-channel heat maps for retail businesses.

“We are looking forward to demonstrating how our products enhance system capabilities and simplify all aspects of installation and video management while enabling installers to easily integrate different channels for their SMB end users,” says Peter Guan, Director of Channel Sales and Marketing at Hikvision Europe. “After last year’s success, we are very excited to be doing a new roadshow in a truck. This time, we will not just show the breadth of our products, but also the added value of our software and integration possibilities to our customers at all levels in the supply chain. We are also looking forward to welcoming KPMG as our keynote cybersecurity speaker at 10 of our roadshow stops.”

14 companies own 57% share of the market

Memoori identifies 14 companies (Group A Companies, who have revenue over $1Bn) accounting for some $17.95 billion in product revenues in 2018. The inclusion of Hikvision and Dahua and this year Axis Communications has given new impetus to this group and the merger between Thales and Gemalto has produced a new mega Identity Management / Access Control biometrics company. The net effect of this is that this group has significantly increased its contribution and the average sales revenue is $1,282m giving them 57% share of the physical security market.

In the report, Memoori compares the performance of 16 different vertical markets in 2006 with 2018 and this shows there have been some significant changes during the last 10 years. The transport sector has almost doubled its share and at 16% is now the largest vertical. Many new opportunities have opened up, particularly for video surveillance, driven by the threat of terrorism and the need to improve safety and efficiency of traffic movements. Retail is the next largest sector with an 11.5% share. This vertical has shown how convergence with the business enterprise can improve the bottom line and is now regarded as an operational revenue saver by many of the world’s major retail companies.

VSaaS (Video Surveillance as a Service) has at last broken through the $1Bn barrier and is forecast to reach the $1.2Bn sales by the end of this year. Strong growth over the last 12 months has pushed hardware sales up by at least 50% and most forecasts predict demand will grow at a GAGR of 20% to 2023. There are a number of reasons for this. The first is that the supply side has put more effort and investment into providing VSaaS and ACaaS (Access Control as a Service) services and technology has overcome many limitations and reduced service costs. At the same time they are winning over system integrators to adopt cloud services and this has also provided a significant boost to growth.

Access Control is still a much smaller business than Video Surveillance and today is far less competitive, but consolidation is creating a more competitive environment and with it comes the confidence to move forward and take up the challenge of embracing new technologies that will deliver better performing products necessary to continue cranking up demand. If manufactures prefer to continue to be insular and proprietary, it will not be good news for continued growth, for traditional proprietary systems mean limited options for the customer and restricted possibilities for integration and scalability.

$31.55Bn worth of security products in 2018

According to Memoori’s latest research for 2018, the total value of world production of Physical Security products at factory gate prices in 2018 was $31.55Bn, an increase of 8% on 2017. This is an increase of approx. 1% over the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.87% during the last 4 years. Memoori is forecasting the market will reach $51.38Bn by 2023.

Of this, the world market for Video Surveillance products should grow at a CAGR of 13.43% to 2023. The reason for this is the demand for AI Video Analytics that should gradually be taken up over the next 5 years having the potential to add a further $2.3Bn to the video surveillance market in 2023. AI Video Analytics will be the number one game changer over the next 10 years in the video surveillance business, influencing the growth of most products that make up this business.

The developed markets of North America and Europe are losing global market share to Asia and particularly China. This is expected to continue to at least the end of the decade which is bad news for western manufacturers of Video surveillance products because they have failed to establish a solid business base and significant share in China; whilst 2 Chinese manufacturers have sales of more than $5 billion between them and now have the kind of scale that allows them to reduce prices to the levels that most western manufacturers can’t compete against.

There are 4 regions in the world that make up over 80% of the world’s physical security business. Of these Memoori estimates that China accounts for approximately 31%. It estimates China is now the biggest single country market for physical security products having increased its share by almost 50% in the last 7 years. Video surveillance equipment has been the major contributor here. The Chinese market has grown rapidly through a boom in new construction and Safe City projects in the public sector.

Lokeren’s citizens safer with Sony 4K cameras

Police in the Belgian city of Lokeren can now respond more effectively to criminal incidents – thanks to an upgraded video surveillance solution featuring 120 Sony security cameras including the rugged SNC-VM772R 4K minidome camera.

Like all urban centers, Lokeren faces the challenges of crime, vandalism and antisocial behavior in its streets, public buildings and open areas. Until recently, the municipal police force relied on analog security cameras to assist with detecting and responding promptly to incidents. However, these cameras’ limited resolution and image quality often prevented efforts to prosecute individuals as they could not be successfully identified.

In response to requests from citizens to maximize their safety, Lokeren police chiefs and city politicians pledged to upgrade their video surveillance capabilities. In particular, the urgent need was identified to improve the accurate recognition of suspects caught on camera – an even greater challenge at night or on dull, poorly-lit days.

“There was only one choice when we compared the image quality of Sony’s security cameras against other market-leading brands” states Emiel De Smet of security specialist DS-Consulting. “They offer so much more detail and clarity – and that makes all the difference in critical surveillance applications.”

In particular, the rugged SNC-VM772R 4K minidome camera delivered significantly better images in tough low-light conditions. The camera’s large-sized Exmor R™ CMOS image sensor allows it to capture more light than ordinary sensors. This allows it to ‘see’ suspicious activity clearly in conditions of almost complete darkness, where less sensitive cameras struggle.

Installed by Belgian integrator Seris Technology, the complete surveillance solution features a video management platform by Genetec Security Center plus 120 strategically located Sony cameras, providing 24/7 coverage of city center streets as well as public buildings including Lokeren’s police station, central library and city hall.

The new cameras give police a clearer picture of criminal activity in the city streets, assisting with the positive identification of suspicious persons even at night and in low light conditions. Since the cameras’ installation, city police has seen a reduction in crime levels, accompanied by greater peace of mind for residents and visitors.

Nedap equips Belgian medical center with access control and automatic vehicle identification

The Netherlands, Groenlo, 29th of January 2019
Technology company Nedap has provided physical access control and long-range readers for vehicle identification at the new AZ Zeno medical care center in Knokke-Heist (Belgium) . AZ Zeno, which opened in April 2018, consists of a hospital with rehabilitation center, an outpatient clinic, auditoria, public event space and a heliport. Nedap Identification System and Nedap Security Management have worked together on this extensive project.

Secure yet accessible medical center
It is AZ Zeno’s highest priority to guarantee the security of patients and employees. With Nedap’s TRANSIT long-range identification readers, emergency vehicles get swift access to the hospital’s premises. With AEOS, Nedap provides the medical care center with a complete solution for physical access control, and the system will also be used to manage staff lockers. By combining Nedap’s solutions, AZ Zeno is able to offer both patients and employees the best possible security and accessibility.

Complementary products
AZ Zeno combines functionality and sustainability and respects the rural character of the local landscape. The link between inside and outside and between medical facilities and public spaces is almost seamless. And the center’s sustainable design focuses on its surroundings, ecological energy and the use of reclaimed materials.

Nedap-CEO Ruben Wegman: “We are proud that two of our business units contribute to the security of this exceptional and innovative center and to a better accessibility for its users. The simultaneous implementation of AEOS and TRANSIT is a great example of the complementary character of Nedap’s products.”

To implement the system, Nedap collaborated with partner Electro Enterprise Gullegem.

New record at Intersec 2019 in Dubai

Source: Intersec

World’s leading trade fair for security, safety, and fire protection attracts 35,889 trade buyers and professionals from 126 countries

A new record in visitor numbers has underlined what has been the most successful edition yet for the world’s leading trade fair for security, safety, and fire protection in Dubai.

The 21st edition of Intersec, which concluded its three-day run on 22nd January 2019 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracted 35,889 visitors from 126 countries, a 23 per cent year-on-year increase over the previous year (29,000 in 2018).

With 1,212 exhibitors from 54 countries, six show sections, 15 country pavilions, live outdoor demonstrations, a drone zone, and the new Future Security Summit, Intersec was at its very best, where new business partnerships shared the stage with innovative product launches.

Organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, Intersec 2019 took up a sprawling 60,000sqm at its Dubai venue, with Fire and Rescue forming the largest section, comprising 431 exhibitors.

Commercial Security was the next largest with 375 exhibitors, followed by Safety & Health (142 exhibitors), Information Security (120 exhibitors), Homeland Security & Policing (90 exhibitors), and Physical & Perimeter Security (54 exhibitors).

Andreas Rex, Intersec’s show director, said: “We put in a lot of effort into making this edition of Intersec the most comprehensive yet in terms of increasing the diversity of our exhibitor range and offering a more engaging conference format, while at the same time returning with improved popular highlights such as the outdoor live demonstration area.

“A lot of exhibitors used Intersec 2019 to not only announce important strategic business partnerships, but to launch their latest products for the global marketplace. The visitor response has certainly been the most pleasing aspect of the show this year and with the Dubai Expo 2020 coming up, we expect the 22nd edition of Intersec in 2020 to be even more successful,” Rex added.

Intersec is supported by the Dubai Police, Dubai Police Academy, Dubai Civil Defence, the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), and the Dubai Municipality. A further 35 international government partners, trade associations, and non-profit institutions also participated this year.

Dubai Police was among the hundreds of exhibitors launching their latest solutions, and this year unveiled a hydrogen-powered drone which will be used to survey mountainous and marine areas.

Nearly two-thirds of the world’s top 50 security manufacturers were also on-board, including 17 of the top 20 incumbents comprising Hikvision, Dahua, ASSA ABLOY, Bosch Security Systems, Axis Communications, FLIR Systems, Hanwha Techwin, Tiandy Technologies, Avigilon, Infinova, Optex, VIVOTEK, CP Plus, Nedap, Raysharp, Milestone Systems, and Kedacom.

Dubai-based Bristol, a global leader in fire protection services and equipment, unveiled the latest innovative firefighting technologies, including a UAE-built fire truck, fire suppression systems and powerful water pump solutions.

Meanwhile, smarter and safer cities were key themes that resonated throughout Intersec 2019. This was underlined by a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the show between Smartworld, a UAE systems integrator, and Honeywell Building Solutions – the global leader in connected buildings – to implement digitally transformed, sustainable, safe and efficient buildings across the UAE.

The resounding visitor response to Intersec 2019 comes as demand for security, safety, and fire protection in the Middle East continues to climb. According to analysts 6Wresearch, the regional market for physical and perimeter security, commercial and information security, fire protection, and drones, is currently estimated to be worth US$14.5 billion, with this estimated to grow to be worth US$31 billion in 2024.

Intersec is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The 22nd edition returns in 2020.
