Genetec has integrated its Autovu Cloudrunner, the company’s vehicle-centric investigation system (VCIS), with the Saferwatch real-time alerting and reporting platform. Initially developed for the Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement, the integration brings together Cloudrunner’s vehicle search capabilities and Saferwatch’s live communication tools into a single platform, enhancing how public safety agencies and communities coordinate in real time during incidents involving vehicles of interest.
The initiative was born out of the Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement’s pressing need to strengthen situational awareness and inter-agency communication. Saferwatch was already being used widely throughout the state, providing secure, real-time communications between citizens, public institutions, and law enforcement. Their vision was to combine real-time technologies to enhance public safety, not only to respond more quickly to incidents, but also to proactively identify potential threats before they escalate.
“This partnership represents a major step forward in how we protect our communities across Hawaii,” said Mike Lambert, Director, Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement. “By integrating Genetec advanced license plate recognition technology with the Saferwatch real-time alert platform, we’re giving our officers and public safety partners the tools to act faster, smarter, and with greater precision. This technology helps us stay one step ahead while keeping transparency and community trust at the forefront.”
Improving situational awareness with real-time data
Cloudrunner automatically captures license plate information, vehicle characteristics (colour, type, make, and model), and driving behaviours, regardless of time of day or weather conditions. With this data now available within Saferwatch, law enforcement agencies can receive instant alerts when a vehicle on a hotlist is detected. These alerts are automatically pushed to 911 dispatchers, investigators, and authorised personnel through the Saferwatch alerting ecosystem. In addition to the license plate information, each alert can include critical context, such as case reports or related vehicle intelligence—enabling faster, more informed decision-making.
Beyond law enforcement
The integration of Autovu Cloudrunner with Saferwatch also extends meaningful new capabilities beyond law enforcement, benefiting educators, healthcare administrators, and public venue operators who already use Saferwatch to monitor potential threats. With Cloudrunner’s vehicle intelligence now embedded in the platform, users can submit tips about suspicious vehicles directly through the app. If a license plate is deemed actionable, it can be added to a hotlist—triggering real-time alerts the moment the vehicle is detected by a Cloudrunner camera. This streamlined flow of information reduces response times and ensures that key stakeholders are aligned and ready to act.
The integration also empowers community members to play an active role in public safety. Through the Saferwatch app, citizens can report sightings or suspicious activity, contributing critical information that could lead to identifying vehicles or individuals of interest. In high-priority scenarios—such as when a most-wanted vehicle is spotted nearby—law enforcement can instantly issue mass notifications to users in surrounding areas, helping alert the public to potential danger and guiding coordinated response efforts.
“Time and collaboration are critical when addressing public safety threats,” said Larry Legere, Commercial Director, Autovu Cloudrunner at Genetec Inc. “This integration streamlines how agencies share vehicle intelligence, enabling faster coordination across jurisdictions and more effective community engagement.”
The integration is now available to Cloudrunner and Saferwatch customers across North America. The Saferwatch app remains free for citizens to download and use for submitting tips, but organisations need an active account on each service to unlock the full benefits of the combined solution.

In a world of evolving physical security threats, locking standards matter. However, specification support is always helpful in tracking the most relevant certifications for an individual project. With a unique scope of expertise in local and global markets, ASSA ABLOY’s specification teams are ideally placed to ensure customers feel confident in the protection of their premises and people.
Many leading mechanical locking manufacturers operate in-house laboratories with testing protocols. These are designed to push every device and component to its limit, long before it ever reaches the market. This process is critical to the development cycle of any high-quality mechanical security product.
However, stringent third-party testing of devices is even more important. An independent mark of engineering quality and durability inspires customer confidence and trust. When specifying a new building or retrofitting an existing property, compliance with security standards is a major ingredient in meeting local and regional building codes.
The most important standards include details which tells consumers about the qualities of mechanical devices they may deploy. They assess the performance and durability of the cylinder itself, including when placed under stress or subjected to a deliberate attack.
Defending the premises: locking strength and resistance
To meet two critical European standards, mechanical cylinders or padlocks must undergo an independent assessment of build quality and toughness. This standard, EN 1303:2015, is wide-ranging and covers both cylinders and their keys. It assures performance on criteria including strength, security, durability and corrosion resistance.
EN 1303 uses an 8-digit coding which reports on performance tests. Each digit refers to a product feature measured against the standard’s performance requirements. Compliance with EN 1303 doesn’t automatically indicate a high security standard: The precise grading is decisive. The highest a cylinder can achieve is 1-6-0-B-0-6-D and the lowest is 1-4-0-0-0-1-0*.
Broadly similar, EN 12320:2012 applies to padlocks, padlock fittings and their keys. It specifies performance requirements and describes test methods for strength, endurance, safety and general operation.
EN 12320 establishes six grades for security – from grade 1 (low security) to 6 (maximum, only in rare cases) – based on tests for corrosion resistance, durability, key-related security and resistance to various forms of attack. To achieve any grade, all its criteria must be met or exceeded.
TS 007 and SKG are two further attack resistance certifications, particularly important for cylinders deployed in a high-security environment. Administered by the UK’s Door and Hardware Federation, TS 007 (Technical Standard 007) specifies requirements for cylinders, door handles and other door hardware. It assesses locking cylinders’ vulnerability to any attacks which use skill and/or knowledge. A panel of independent locksmiths manually performs picking and bumping tests. EN 1303 attack resistance and key-related security (see above) are also considered. TS 007 assesses high-security cylinders with 1 or 3 stars. TS 007***, the higher rating, also includes snapping attack resistance.
SKG ratings are awarded by the independent Dutch certification body SKG-IKOB and are recognized Europe-wide. A cylinder’s SKG rating indicates resistance to various common forms of destructive attack and key-related security. It is similar to EN 1303 but covers additional types of manipulation. The rating is easily identified on the cylinder itself, marked with 2 or 3 stars. SKG***, the top level, resembles the top EN 1303 grading.
“Leading ASSA ABLOY mechanical locking solutions – including CY100, CY110, CYS10 and CYS00 – offer certified mechanical security and have active patent protection stretching to 2037,” explains Paul van der Rest, Business Development Manager at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA.
Use case: mechanical protection at an Italian resort
With multiple buildings, a private beach and sports areas, the new TH Resorts Capo Rizzuto on Calabria’s Ionian coast receives high daily traffic from guests and staff, who must have access at different times according to their specific needs. Working closely with the expert specification team at ASSA ABLOY Italia, managers at TH Capo Rizzuto chose a CYS10 master-key locking system with Euro-profile double cylinders for common area access points and staff-only zones. For guest room doors they selected CYS10 thumbturn cylinders, which lock securely for privacy, yet quickly unlock from the inside.
The CYS10 platform consists of 6-pin sawn key cylinders; it is tested and certified according to the EN 1303:2015 and SKG security standards. Security of the comfortable nickel-silver key is protected against unauthorized copying by two separate patents. Their robust design makes them ideally suited to challenging environments such as a busy hotel.
With 63 available key profiles, CYS10 cylinders enable creation of a complex master-key setup with several levels and sub-levels – perfect for access customization. Effective master-key system design reduces the number of keys they need to cut, track or replace. It saves hotel managers time and money.
“It is a truly flexible solution and allows us to limit the quantity of keys assigned as much as possible,” says Carmelo Sava, Head of Maintenance at TH Resorts.
Snaga i otpornost
Garancija sigurnosti
To štedi vrijeme i novac menadžerima hotela.

Addressing Europe’s Digital Priorities Amid Changing Global Dynamics
In the lead-up to the show, senior government officials, investors, and ecosystem leaders echoed the progressive economic impact of the GITEX platform and its role in catalysing public-private partnerships, cross-sector collaborations, digital competitiveness, and multi-sector investments, while also reaffirming Germany and Berlin readiness, accessibility, and momentum to connect with the global tech ecosystem.
Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin, remarked, “The GITEX tech fair is taking place in Berlin for the first time. This is a big achievement that confirms Berlin’s importance as an international location for industry events and innovation. Berlin is Germany’s startup capital and one of the top three cities for startups in Europe, alongside London and Paris. With GITEX, Berlin can further develop this leading position and gain additional momentum on the way to becoming Europe’s number one innovation hub.”
Franziska Giffey, Mayor of Berlin & Senator for Economic Affairs, added, “Berlin and GITEX are a perfect match. Together, we build a unique opportunity for industry innovators, startups and
scale-ups to meet, foster progress and fuel economic growth. As Europe’s startup and innovation capital, and as a city deeply rooted in the spirit of international cooperation, we cordially welcome all GITEX EUROPE participants to Berlin.”
Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International and organiser of GITEX worldwide, shared, “Germany as the world’s third largest economy and GITEX as the world’s largest tech event brand across continents have a shared commitment to forge collaboration in research and application of tech to solve global challenges.
The inaugural edition of GITEX in Germany shall be the largest tech and digital investment launch ever in Europe, and certainly the most global with over 90% of its international startups choosing to experience the trendy Berlin innovation hub for the first time. This is a powerful time in the epoch of Berlin with GITEX marking the symbolic rise of a bolder and more competitive Europe.”
Matthias Notz, Global CEO, Start2 Group, reinforced the call for startup acceleration: “the European startup ecosystem is bursting with breakthrough ideas and talent, yet what we need now is a recalibrated rhythm, where European nations join forces to empower founders, startups, and especially scale-ups, and where funding moves as fast as ideas do.”
European-Led, Global Convergence of Tech & Business
With participation from 34 European states, the event unlocks fast, seamless corridors for Pan-European as well as global digital trade, with prominent tech pavilions from France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, among many more.
