TP-Link Unveils Its First Wi-Fi 8 Devices, Archer 8 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra
TP-Link Systems unveiled its first Wi-Fi 8 devices, the Archer 8 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra, at IFA 2026 in Berlin, both based on the new 802.11bn standard. The Archer 8 Ultra is a tri-band Wi-Fi 8 router supporting combined speeds of up to 19 Gbps, connectivity for up to 200 devices, and coverage of approximately 279 square meters in Europe. It features 18 antennas and six Multi-Gig ports, including two 10G WAN/LAN ports, while also supporting the 6 GHz frequency band.
Unlike previous generations, which placed a strong emphasis on peak speeds, Wi-Fi 8 focuses on greater connection reliability, more consistent performance, improved coverage, and seamless roaming in congested networks and areas with weaker signals. According to TP-Link’s laboratory tests, Wi-Fi 8 can deliver up to 30% higher throughput at the same signal strength, up to 24% better performance under interference, and up to 15% stronger mesh performance compared with Wi-Fi 7, although the company notes that actual results depend on the devices and network environment.
Technologies such as Distributed Tone Resource Units (DRU) and Enhanced Long Range (ELR) are designed to further improve communication with distant devices and connection stability at the edges of the coverage area.
