Euralarm Opens European Fire Safety Week 2026 with Webinar on Future Residential Fire Safety
Euralarm, the European association representing the fire safety and security industry, will open European Fire Safety Week 2026 on Monday, 16 November, with a dedicated webinar examining the future of residential fire safety. Bringing together experts from across Europe, the webinar will explore how connected homes, evolving lifestyles and new technologies are reshaping the prevention, detection and response to fire, while addressing emerging challenges such as electric vehicle parking garages, unattended cooking incidents and maintaining confidence in fire detection and alarm systems.
As a long-standing supporter of European Fire Safety Week, Euralarm is proud to contribute to this important European initiative and to help drive discussions around fire safety in the context of housing, building renovation, electrification, and climate resilience. The association’s opening webinar will set the stage for the week’s debates by exploring how fire safety can be integrated into Europe’s transition towards more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.
This year’s European Fire Safety Week 2026, taking place from 16 to 20 November, comes at a critical time. Recent fire incidents across Europe have underlined the growing need for comprehensive fire prevention strategies and for fire safety to be recognized as an integral component of housing and resilience policies.
“European Fire Safety Week provides a valuable platform for bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry experts, and fire safety professionals,” said Paul van der Zanden, General Director of Euralarm. “Through our opening webinar, Euralarm aims to contribute to the dialogue on how innovative fire protection technologies, effective regulation, and increased awareness can help create safer homes and communities throughout Europe.”
The Euralarm webinar will feature a series of expert presentations covering key developments in residential fire protection, including the balance between reducing false alarms and ensuring reliable fire detection, the latest developments in carbon monoxide detector standards, remote maintenance of detectors in large residential buildings, fire safety considerations in EV parking garages, and solutions to address the persistent challenge of stove fires and unattended cooking.
Throughout the week, participants will engage in webinars, expert discussions, and awareness activities covering residential fire safety, smoke alarm implementation, building renovation, electrification, fire statistics, and emerging technologies. A dedicated expert seminar in Brussels will further explore how fire safety can keep pace with changing societal expectations, technological innovation, and the ongoing energy transition.
Euralarm strongly believes that fire safety should be considered a fundamental pillar of sustainable buildings. As Europe invests heavily in decarbonisation, electrification, and renovation programmes, ensuring that fire protection is incorporated from the earliest stages of planning and design is essential to protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
By supporting and participating in European Fire Safety Week 2026, Euralarm reaffirms its commitment to advancing fire safety standards, promoting best practices, and helping to create a safer built environment for all European citizens.
