Security Summit Virtual Event – Breaking New Ground for the Virtual Trade Events

Security Summit Virtual Event 2020 which took place on November 3-5 has once again proved why the Security Summit brand of events has established itself on the European and global industry trade event map. Initially conceived as a new online event which was supposed to take place instead of this year’s Adria Security Summit Powered by Intersec, a successful string of live trade shows, the Security Summit went above and beyond its task of bringing the key security and IoT industry players together in the age of pandemic and actually broke new grounds.
The numbers speak for themselves and serve as proof that the Summit has now closed its doors as the largest virtual trade show dedicated to security and IoT in the whole of Europe. With its 2090 participants, 76 sponsors, 50+ speakers who presented 22 lectures and case studies, and more than 800 held meetings, the event has surely become a force to be reckoned with in the security trade show industry and a one-stop-shop for both B2B and B2C networking, promotion of innovation and education in the security and IoT industries.
Security Summit 2020 took place across three days, with a full-day program featuring live sessions, keynote speeches, case studies, success stories, panel discussions, and side events presented by the eminent industry speakers. In addition to this, a key ingredient in achieving this level of success was the Summit’s positioning itself as both a tool and a platform for launching a global effort to reconnect security industry stakeholders, rebuild its ecosystems and accelerate its much-needed recovery in the pandemic-ridden world.
The participants were able to host both prescheduled and on-demand 1on1 virtual meetings with their business partners, customers, service providers, key market players, and global industry associations. This allowed the organizers to offer the same level of functionality the companies and the partners of the event have come to expect from live events while staying safe and healthy and without having to bother with the logistical arrangements that usually accompany participation in live events of this type. This made the Virtual Summit a more cost-effective option for attendance for numerous participants, thus allowing the event to reach previously untapped markets and audiences. At the same time, the Summit kept an equal focus on its regional and international character, with participants coming from all parts of the world thanks to its increased accessibility and lower barriers for participation.
As a bonus, participating in Security Summit 2020 is bound to offer long-term benefits for all of those that took part in it. The reason for this is the fact that one of the key value propositions of the Summit was to provide its partners with actionable insights into profiles of their business partners, customer demand, data on the segments of their presentation which attracted the highest levels of interaction, etc. Based on this, the companies left the Summit with valuable market-worthy data that will allow them to customize their offer, reorganize brand awareness campaigns and focus their activities on what was proven to be of the greatest interest to both end-users and business partners.
In addition to this, the Summit has emerged as a learning platform and a place at which the security and IoT experts come to exchange skills and experience with their colleagues, learn more about best practices and game-changing innovations, all of which lend themselves to being built into future business strategies and approaches.
With the show being a resounding success both in terms of its goals and the safety of its format, the organizer of the event has decided to extend the use of the Summit platform for the organization of video meetings and messaging until December 2020. This is surely welcome news for those that did not manage to set up all the meetings they wanted during the event. Besides, the plans are already underway to organize the next virtual event of this type in May 2021, with the organizers planning to make their successful platform and the database of companies available to all interested parties outside of the regular event schedule.
It is for all these reasons that we are looking forward to meeting you at the next Virtual Security Summit 2021 and making it conquer new grounds and overtake the stellar results we achieved together with its predecessor.

Intersec moves to 2022 at Dubai World Trade Centre

Organiser Messe Frankfurt Middle East offers digital programme for global security, safety, and fire protection industry in 2021

Dubai, UAE: Intersec, the world’s leading security, safety, and fire protection trade fair, has been rescheduled to take place in January 2022, organiser Messe Frankfurt Middle East confirmed today (24 September 2020).

The 23rd edition of the three-day event was originally set to run from 24-26 January 2021 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, however the move to 2022 comes after extensive consultation with key industry stakeholders.

“We’ve spoken to many of our exhibitors, industry trade associations, supporters, and partners over the last couple of weeks and have heard first-hand the many challenges they’re facing putting pressure on their ability to participate at Intersec in January 2021,” said Alexandria Robinson, Intersec’s Show Director.

“Moving Intersec to its customary January dates in 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre will allow time for recovery.”

Ms. Robinson said Intersec will be very active throughout 2021 via its ongoing webinar series, while the team is now working toward creating a virtual event early next year to engage industry leaders, regulators, government agencies and opinion formers.

“We might be restricted physically, but we know there is a definitive need for critical conversations and discussions to address the challenges the industry has faced,” she said.

“By hosting these talks via a digital forum it enables us to keep connected to the industry and nurture our existing relationships, whilst sharing solutions and common goals.  We’ll share further details and plans about the digital event in the coming weeks.”

Intersec’s popular free-to-attend webinar series, of which there’ve been 11 so far in the last four months, has kept thousands of attendees abreast of the latest industry trends and opportunities.

“We know we have a vital role to play in connecting and supporting the industry, and the Intersec webinars stimulate meaningful conversations, collaborations and success stories,” added Ms. Robinson.  “We will continue to run these and support our stakeholders in every way possible until we meet again personally, and safely, at Intersec 2022.”

“One thing is absolutely certain: our community is resilient and will bounce back.  It has been involved in many frontline situations throughout the course of this year and it will continue to play a critical role in the months ahead. Throughout 2021 and come January 2022, we’ll have much to share and learn from each other.”

Intersec in 2020 featured 1,100 exhibitors from 56 countries, while attracting 33,872 visitors from 135 countries.  The global industry event is supported by Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police, the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), Dubai Police Academy, and Dubai Municipality.

ISE 2021 to be held on 1-4 June

Following on from yesterday’s statement that Integrated Systems Europe was being postponed we are pleased to confirm that the show will take place at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona on 1-4 June.

The decision to reschedule the exhibition from early February came after a period of consultation with exhibitors, the venue and local authorities. In recent weeks we have been working closely with the venue and local suppliers to ensure that the move can take place as smoothly as possible.

From our many conversations, it is clear the industry can’t wait to get back together doing business face to face and we are committed to delivering an engaging and safe in-person ISE in 2021. The postponement of the event to early June provides additional time for the industry to adapt and restore balance. We look forward to hosting the AV community in our new home in Barcelona.

Watch out for our regular updates on all that is taking place at ISE 2021.

Thank you for your continued support.

Adria Security Summit 2020 Comes to You as a Virtual Event

Adria Security Summit Powered by Intersec, leading security industry conference and exhibition in SE Europe, has been rescheduled to September 2021, and a new online event entitled Security Summit 2020 will take place in November 2020 in its stead.

The decision to postpone the regular annual event and replace it with a virtual show in 2020 was made on the grounds of the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19. As the safety of the event’s visitors and staff remain the organizer’s top priority, the preparations for this year’s virtual Security Summit 2020 are already underway in collaboration with the sponsors, partner associations, and industry professionals. In order to avoid potential health risks to you and your families, the idea of the event is to bring the Security Summit you have come to know and love to your homes and businesses instead of having you come to visit it.

An experienced team of Adria Security Summit and our partners will use this Security Summit not only as a substitute for the non-virtual event but as a tool and a platform for launching a global effort to reconnect security industry stakeholders, rebuild its ecosystems and accelerate its much-needed recovery.

In addition to this, Security Summit 2020 will follow in the footsteps of the achievements of Adria Security Summit and other global trade shows which were forced to move to a virtual world due to the pandemic – this means maintaining the same level of quality you’ve come to expect from the organizer, keeping an equal focus on the regional and international character of the event paired with innovative online and digital features that will allow you to enjoy the Summit from the comfort of your home and workplace.

Security Summit 2020 will take place across three days, starting on November 3rd and running through November 5th. It will feature a full-day program with live sessions, keynote speeches, case studies, and side events presented by the prominent industry speakers, together with panel discussions and success stories. Three virtual conference halls will host 20+ daily presentations by prominent speakers. These webinar sessions will be available from 11 AM until 4 PM each day.

Additionally, the B2B networking option offers the same benefits as it would during a live event. Sponsors will be able to host both prescheduled and on-demand 1on1 virtual meetings with their colleagues, business partners, customers, service providers, key market players, and global institutions.

Participating in Security Summit 2020 will offer substantial benefits to your business based on real-time insights into innovations and technological trends in an era of the pandemic, together with an opportunity to conduct market research in the field, promote brand awareness and secure product placement. You will be able to familiarize yourself with specific skills, best practices, and strategies that you can apply to your business, and the virtual nature of the event will allow it to reach an even wider audience than what it has done so far. The participants will include the best among the security managers, SME owners, and decision-makers, representatives of government security agencies, installers, and system integrators, end-users, and manufacturers that will provide you with inspiration, tools and precious know-how. Finally, attending the event will not be only easier, but also more cost-effective compared to participating in its live iteration.

It is for all these reasons that we are looking forward to meeting you at the Security Summit 2020 – Virtual Event.

Online Forum: The new concept for the new age

Shaping the New normal
In the second half of July, a&s Adria magazine, in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt New Era, organized its third online forum in 2020, which, this time, was dedicated to the security industry during the coronavirus pandemic. With its main topic defined as “Shaping the New Normal in a New Era”, lecturers from the leading global security companies such as ASSA ABLOY, Bosch, Dahua, MFNE and Seagate, talked about what the security industry and market currently look like and how they operate and what changes they will have to face in the coming years.

Catalyst for Changes
The Covid-19 crisis will trigger changes that will drive the digitalization of services and change existing business models in the security industry, according to Israel Gogol of MFNE. The impact of the crisis will be felt most in two segments: the first one is the financial uncertainty, with almost 50 percent of companies in the B2B segment reducing their short-term consumption in response to the crisis, and, second, in the digitalization of services. Digital communication will become indispensable because all companies and users are now online, so the providers must approach them with a strong and effective message. In addition, companies in the security industry will have to offer new products and business models. Cloud technology will be at the heart of current demands, together with contactless technologies and remote surveillance. We will also witness the transition to the opex model, in which the manufacturers will have to focus on recurring revenue or subscription models, with greater reliance on digital channels for education and sales.

Greater Reliability with Quality Storage
For the operation of advanced video surveillance technologies, proper and secure storage is crucial as it offers greater reliability and scalability of the system, higher level of data protection and less maintenance. Karol Narojczyk, Seagate’s Sales Representative for Central and Eastern Europe, presented several product series intended for use in video surveillance. For DVRs and NVRs in small and medium-sized installations, Seagate offers its affordable SkyHawk technology, while AI NVRs in a system that can generate structured analytical data and metadata can utilize SkyHawk AI. In case of VMS servers and shared storage (SAN, NAS and JBOD), Exos should be used for larger, more expensive and faster installations, while NYTRO SSD is intended for deep learning and analysis. When it comes to data protection, the company offers its ADAPT software, which is 95 % faster in copying data in case of disk failure compared to traditional RAID solutions. If one needs to monitor disk performance, there is also SkyHawk Health Management 2.0 software with the most advanced feature set in the industry.

Towards New Future with INTEOX
Bosch has developed and improved several solutions to combat the coronavirus and these were presented by Danijel Jerković, Sales Manager for Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Tiberiu Nicolae, Business Development Manager for Southeast Europe. One of these solutions is the new INTEOX open video surveillance platform which will allow integrators and developers to develop custom applications without any restrictions. In the 3rd quarter of 2020, the first PTZ mobile INTEOX IP camera will be presented, while the same is planned for fixed cameras in early 2021. There’s also a people counting solution that will combine Bosch’s smart cameras and Philips’ Android displays, allowing for more efficient and effective crowd management. The camera monitors the number of customers entering and leaving the premises and notifies visitors when it is not safe to enter via the display. The People Counting solution normally uses one Bosch camera with built-in video analytics and one of Philips’ D-Line, Q-Line or H-Line displays, but it can also be used in larger areas with as many as 80 cameras and 20 monitors. Finally, there is a public address system for the retail industry, which informs customers to keep their distance from each other.

Managing Hardware and Software from a Single Location
Representatives of ASSA ABLOY, Denis Dunaj, Digital Access Solutions Manager with this company, and David Hughes, Product Development Manager for the EMEA region, presented the novel Incedo Business access control management software solution for all types of business environments. Facility managers can now manage all of their security and access control systems from a single location, get the maximum return on investment without the need to re-train their staff, choose local or cloud-based management, opt for cards, tokens or mobile keys, and enjoy personalized access and live control. Through the user interface of the Incedo Business software, you can specify in detail who has access to which door and when. The software comes in three versions – Lite, Plus and Cloud, allowing the users to choose the one that suits them best for their security needs.

Four Steps in the Fight against the Pandemic
How a micrometer can affect a $ 50 billion industry overnight was a topic discussed by Jacek Weglarz, technology evangelist with Dahua Technology. In times of fundamental changes, Dahua has adapted to the market in both the business and manufacturing segments, offering a range of solutions to combat the coronavirus. At the forefront is the HBTM body temperature measurement solution, which features thermal cameras with artificial intelligence, 400×300 px resolution, and a black body for easier calibration of temperature measurements, thus achieving an accuracy of ± 0.3 ℃. In addition to thermal cameras, Dahua also offers several AI cameras that can detect if a person is wearing a face mask and count people in lines, as well as mobile access control and face recognition terminals. Dahua’s system can instantly recognize a person, measure his/her temperature, check if they are wearing a mask and open the door for them.
