Alarm.com and Everon have formed a strategic partnership to introduce an integrated commercial security solution to the market. The new joint system enables users to manage intrusion protection, access control, video surveillance, and key business functions from a single unified console.

The goal of the partnership is to offer a scalable platform capable of meeting the needs of diverse business environments — from small companies to large multi-site enterprises. The solution is specifically designed for customers seeking a reliable, centralized, and technologically advanced security infrastructure.

VITEC has officially announced its acquisition of UK-based Datapath, with the transaction finalized at the end of November. This strategic move further strengthens VITEC’s portfolio of video distribution and video wall solutions, offering customers expanded engineering capacity, enhanced technical support, and wider global reach.

Datapath is a long-standing leader in the Pro AV industry, recognized for its high-quality video wall systems, intuitive control room solutions, and decades of expertise in video hardware and software development. According to VITEC, the acquisition opens new business opportunities, particularly in the control room and advanced AV-over-IP sectors. By integrating Datapath’s technologies, VITEC will provide broader capabilities for IPTV distribution and professional AV applications. Once the integration is complete, nearly 50% of VITEC’s workforce will consist of engineers, underscoring the company’s strong commitment to innovation.

Phil Webster, VITEC’s Vice President of R&D, emphasized the importance of the merger, stating: “Bringing VITEC and Datapath together will allow us to accelerate product development and offer an even broader range of solutions, features and services. We’re excited to integrate our combined expertise.” Webster, who previously led Datapath’s R&D department, will now oversee all engineering teams across VITEC’s video streaming solutions portfolio. The company confirmed that Datapath’s product lines—including video wall controllers, AV-over-IP systems, capture cards, and control room technologies—will remain recognizable within VITEC’s offering.

Datapath currently serves customers in more than 100 countries across professional AV, defense, education, security, and healthcare sectors.

Desg Ltd, a UK-based company specializing in premium co-working spaces built around design and well-being principles, has upgraded its network infrastructure with support from technology partner Steer IT. The new system, powered by Ruijie technology, was developed to ensure a stable, secure, and fully manageable network environment for clients who rely on Desg’s spaces for daily work, meetings, and collaboration.

As part of the upgrade, the Ruijie OCE Identity system was deployed to provide secure local authentication and precise network access control. For wireless coverage, 17 RG-AP820-L(V3) access points were installed, delivering high performance and uninterrupted Wi-Fi across all work areas. In addition, five Ruijie RG-NBS5200 series switches form the backbone of a reliable wired network and efficient device-to-device communication. The entire infrastructure is centrally managed through the Ruijie Cloud platform, enabling remote maintenance, monitoring, and rapid analytics.

Desg reports that the transition to Ruijie solutions has significantly simplified administration and reduced the number of network incidents. According to the company’s IT Manager, Ruijie has proven to be “a pleasant and reliable technological change” that fully met their expectations.

With this modernization, Desg now operates a network capable of supporting user growth and the increasing demands of digital business. The project further reinforces Ruijie’s position as a trusted choice for modern workspaces.

Smiths Group plc has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its Smiths Detection division to funds advised by CVC Capital Partners, in a transaction valued at £2 billion. This sale, together with the previously announced divestment of Smiths Interconnect, marks a key step in implementing the strategy launched at the beginning of 2025. Completion of the process is expected in the second half of 2026, subject to mandatory consultations with the works council in France and customary regulatory approvals.

“Today we have reached an important milestone for Smiths, confirming the agreement to sell Smiths Detection for £2 billion and further accelerating the transformation initiated in January. We are refocusing the company on premium industrial engineering with an emphasis on flow management and thermal technologies, enabling stronger growth and improved returns,” said Roland Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Smiths Group. He added that the company extends its gratitude to Smiths Detection employees for their contribution and cooperation throughout the process.

The transaction value reflects the long-term growth potential of Smiths Detection and, according to the management, represents a more attractive option than a demerger. Smiths plans to return a significant portion of the net proceeds to shareholders while maintaining a strong balance sheet. The company remains committed to the previously announced £1 billion share buyback and to further strengthening profitability.

With the divestment of two divisions, Smiths is strategically repositioning itself as a focused engineering company with a stronger financial profile and stable growth across the energy, industrial, and construction sectors. Management emphasizes that the released capital will be directed into development, innovation, and targeted acquisitions that will further accelerate the company’s transformation.
