EL.MO. Introduces GSM-ALT Service for More Reliable Intrusion System Connectivity

Exclusive: Kamir’s Hikvision–Codeks Integration Receives Official Hikvision Approval

Kamir has announced that its Hikvision–Codeks integration has been officially approved by Hikvision and listed among the company’s officially supported partner solutions on Hikvision’s official channels.

The solution enables seamless integration of Hikvision devices, including ANPR cameras, facial recognition terminals, and access control systems, with third-party Time & Attendance and ERP platforms. The project was developed in several phases, from LAN device integration to full implementation using the HikPartnerPro OpenAPI and Hik-Connect Team OpenAPI interfaces.

The HikvisionCodeks Module operates as a service-based application that bridges Hikvision devices and business software, enabling user management, license plate management, event handling, and other functions through both local and cloud services. One of its key advantages is the ability to remotely manage devices via the HikPartner Pro and Hik-Connect Team platforms without the need for port forwarding or exposing the network to additional security risks.

The official inclusion among Hikvision’s partner solutions confirms the quality of Kamir’s integration and opens new opportunities for its deployment in professional security projects across Europe.

Hybrid work-patterns, increased on-site deployment of contractors, workspace reconfigurations, and increasing compliance demands are no longer exceptions; they are everyday realities in many organizations. To meet these growing demands, even in times of budget limitations, security and access management must remain flexible, secure, and future‑ready. Digitalizing access, with the latest electronic and electromechanical locking solutions and systems, has become one of the most effective ways to tackle these demands. It provides a concrete return on investment (ROI) which benefits the organization over the long haul.In at least the following 7 ways, access digitalization marries increased building security and safety with ongoing, sustainable cost savings.

1. Eliminating hidden costs in a dynamic organization

Mechanical access systems were never designed for a world in which change is ever-present and often unpredictable. With traditional mechanical access, every lost key, access update, or organizational shift triggers manual workload, site visits, and additional costs. Digital access replaces physical interventions with software‑based control, including remotely. By supporting workflows and not just access, this approach reduces recurring costs while boosting operational agility.

2. Relieving budget pressures with lower installation costs

Digital access solutions do not usually need extensive wiring or disruptive construction work. Often devices are battery-powered, and so don’t need cabling, or they generate their own operating energy. Digital access provides traceability and visibility as standard. Audit trails and access insights help reduce internal incidents, support investigations, and limit the financial impact of breaches. Higher security also has cost-reduction implications. For example, according to IBM, the average cost of each data leak – as a result of cyber, physical, or hybrid cyber-physical breach – is now EUR 3.75 million. Still further efficiency gains are achievable when digital access is integrated with other security systems such as CCTV or intruder detection. Correlating access events with video or alarm data helps security teams to respond faster, investigate more efficiently, and avoid prolonged disruption – which also mitigates operational costs.

6. Staying flexible to minimize reinvestment when the organization evolves

With a wireless digital access solution, office moves and refurbishments may be handled through reconfiguration rather than construction. It is often possible to move a wireless access device from door to door, for example, saving time and money. AMBCG Brings Security Experts Together Ahead of the Summer Tourist Season

More than 70 representatives of government institutions, security services, regulatory bodies, and businesses participated in the 4th professional consultations titled “Security Challenges Ahead of the Summer Season”, organized by the Association of Security Managers of Montenegro (AMBCG).

The event was held with the support of the Ministry of the Interior of Montenegro, the Police Directorate, the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, the Civil Aviation Agency, the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information, and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro. The event partner was Slovenia-based Spica International.

During the consultations, participants discussed key security challenges associated with the upcoming summer tourist season, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), video surveillance and access control systems, personal data protection, and responses to emergency security situations.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation between public institutions and the private sector in order to enhance security standards and improve preparedness for the increased number of visitors and activities during the summer months. According to the Association of Security Managers of Montenegro, ensuring a safe tourist season is a shared responsibility of all relevant stakeholders. The organizers also expressed their gratitude to institutions, partners, speakers, and participants for their contribution to knowledge exchange and the improvement of the security environment in Montenegro.

Major Supply Chain Attack Hits the Arch Linux Community

More than 400 packages in the Arch User Repository (AUR) have been compromised in a software supply chain attack, with attackers modifying installation scripts to deploy data-stealing malware on users’ systems. The incident did not affect the official Arch Linux repositories but was limited to AUR, the community-maintained package distribution platform.

According to research by Sonatype, the attackers adopted abandoned projects with no active maintainers and inserted malicious code into their PKGBUILD files, causing the installation of malicious npm packages during the build process. The Rust-based malware was designed to collect sensitive information, including GitHub, npm, and HashiCorp Vault access tokens, SSH keys, browser data, and information from applications such as Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams. Security researchers reported that the malware was also capable of deploying an eBPF rootkit to conceal its activities on compromised systems, although only when it obtained administrative privileges.

Additional concern stems from the fact that the attackers preserved the original package names and histories, exploiting user trust without relying on software vulnerabilities or zero-day exploits.

The number of compromised packages continues to grow, and security experts are urging users who installed or updated AUR packages after June 11 to review their systems and verify whether any affected packages were used. According to current findings, the incident represents one of the largest attacks against the AUR ecosystem to date and highlights the serious risks posed by compromised components within the software supply chain.

Alarm automatika BiH Marks 20 Years of Business and Partnerships

Alarm automatika celebrated 20 years of operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina by bringing together more than 50 partners, customers, and associates at this year’s Partner Day event in Sarajevo. The anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on two decades of company growth, completed projects, and long-term partnerships built in the local market.

Although Partner Day is traditionally dedicated to presenting new technologies and solutions, this year’s edition primarily focused on the people and companies that have contributed to the development of Alarm automatika BiH. During the event, the company showcased the latest products, solutions, and market trends featured in its new catalogue, while presentations were delivered by Luka Kučić and Žarko Regodić.

Guests also heard from Boris Popović, President of the Management Board of Alarm automatika, and Ines Cero, Director of Alarm automatika BiH, who reflected on the key milestones, challenges, and achievements that have marked the company’s twenty-year journey.

Tailored life safety solution for five-star multi-purpose complex in Sofia

Smart Tower is a mixed-use development in Sofia, Bulgaria, comprising two connected blocks with 17 residential floors, 7 levels of commercial space, and 4 underground parking levels. Spanning over 60,000sqm and housing approximately 1,152 occupants, the project required a comprehensive, multi-technology fire detection solution capable of operating reliably across a highly varied building environment.

Central District LTD appointed Sectron to take full accountability for the design and installation. Project managers Spas Stankov and Spas Stoyanov led the work, supported by engineer-designers Elena Pencheva and Dobrinka Tsvetkova.

Spas Stoyanov reflected on the partnership: “We have a great relationship with Hochiki, using their products for over 30 years. Their compliance with local fire regulations and advanced sensing technology guaranteed Smart Tower had a fire system that is highly reliable and, most importantly, reduces false alarms for occupants.”

For the main building areas, 2,887 ACC-EN multi-sensors were installed as part of an addressable fire system using Hochiki’s ESP intelligent range. Combining a thermal element with a photoelectric smoke chamber, each device detects both heat rise and smoke presence. The open-protocol ESP platform also supports long-term cost efficiency by consolidating multiple product ranges onto a single panel.

Aesthetic integration was a specific requirement given the modern interior of both blocks. Dobrinka Tsvetkova explained: “Hochiki’s ESP sensors came in multiple variants including ivory, black and white, which gave us the flexibility to meet Smart Tower’s need for consistent aesthetics. We chose white to reflect the clean environment across all spaces.”

For the residential floors, Hochiki’s conventional CDX range provided the solution: 342 SOC-E3N optical smoke detectors and 171 DCD-AE3 heat detectors across the apartments. Hochiki’s CHQ I/O modules ensured continuous monitoring and integration between both systems, with faults in conventional zones reported directly to the addressable control panel.

The 4,600sqm underground car park required a different approach entirely. Higher airflow and exhaust fumes make standard point smoke detection ineffective here. Hochiki’s Linear Heat Detection Cable provided a localised solution suited to the environment. Elena Pencheva noted: “The open-protocol capabilities provided ultimate flexibility when integrating multiple tailored solutions.”

Spas Stankov concluded: “All systems were easy to install, minimising disruption to residents. Compliance was fully met and we are confident that all occupants are protected for the long term.” For specifiers and installers working on large or mixed-use developments, Smart Tower shows what Hochiki’s open-protocol architecture can do.
