Airporti Di Roma Expands Outsight’s Physical AI Deployment at Fiumicino Airport

Aeroporti di Roma is scaling up Outsight’s Spatial Intelligence platform across nearly all common-use areas in the Schengen zone at Rome Fiumicino Airport, aiming to improve passenger flow visibility, operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) and Outsight have announced a major expansion of their collaboration at Rome Fiumicino Airport, with Outsight’s Physical AI solution now set for large-scale deployment across nearly all common-use areas within the Schengen zone. The move marks a significant step up from the initial rollout under ADR’s “Runway to the Future” innovation program.

The technology uses 3D LiDAR data and advanced analytics to generate real-time insights on passenger flows, queue formation and congestion patterns. According to the partners, this will give ADR a more complete view of the passenger journey and support faster resource allocation, smarter process redesign and more responsive airport operations.

The expanded deployment follows what the companies described as a successful first phase in the Arrivals immigration area, where the platform reportedly delivered measurable operational benefits. With the new agreement, ADR is moving from pilot implementation to industrial-scale use of the technology across one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs.

ADR said the wider rollout reflects its confidence in solutions that turn airport data into actionable intelligence in sensitive, high-traffic environments. Outsight, for its part, said the project validates the
