Infrared Imaging Market to Hit $11.6B by 2030 as AI Fuels New Applications

The global infrared imaging market is expected to grow from USD 8.61 billion in 2025 to USD 11.65 billion by 2030, representing a CAGR of 6.2%, according to a new MarketsandMarkets report. Analysts highlight that AI-powered thermal analytics, drone-based surveillance, and autonomous inspection systems are among the most promising growth areas. Rising demand from predictive maintenance, smart manufacturing, and energy-efficient infrastructure is also accelerating adoption.

The thermal imaging segment is projected to lead the market thanks to its versatility, cost efficiency, and ability to detect heat signatures without visible light—enabling use in complete darkness, smoke, or fog. This makes it indispensable in defense, surveillance, industrial inspection, and fire detection. Advances in uncooled thermal sensors have reduced costs, opening the door to wider use in automotive driver-assistance systems, HVAC inspections, and energy audits.

Infrared cameras are expected to see particularly strong growth, driven by applications in defense, industrial automation, automotive, and healthcare. Their integration into handheld devices, fixed surveillance systems, and drones, along with higher resolution and compact designs, is expanding their role in real-time diagnostics and predictive maintenance. AI-enhanced thermal imaging is further enabling automation and faster decision-making.

The Asia Pacific region is forecast to record the highest growth rate, spurred by rapid industrialization, infrastructure expansion, and rising defense spending in countries like China, Japan, and India. Major industry players include Teledyne FLIR, Fluke Corporation, Leonardo, Axis Communications, L3Harris Technologies, RTX, Exosens, Opgal Optronic Industries, Lynred, Allied Vision Technologies, BAE Systems, and Testo.

Wave of Cyberattacks Hits Europe: Ruđer Bošković Institute Among Targets

In recent days, a series of severe cyberattacks have been recorded across Europe, targeting major companies and institutions, including airlines, government agencies, and research centers. Following a recent incident involving Australia’s Qantas, European carriers Air France and KLM have also fallen victim to cybercriminals. Unauthorized access was detected on an external customer service platform, compromising passenger data such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and frequent flyer account details. While sensitive information like passwords, passport numbers, and credit card details was not exposed, the breach has raised concern and prompted additional security measures.

A similar attack was recorded in the Adriatic region, where the target was Zagreb’s Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB). The attack, carried out on July 31, 2025, was part of a global wave affecting at least 9,000 institutions worldwide, exploiting the ToolShell vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint. The ransomware impacted part of the network related to the IRB’s administrative and technical departments, encrypting numerous documents and databases. The Institute has firmly refused to pay the ransom and is addressing the incident strictly through professional and security protocols, restoring data from secure backups.

These incidents once again highlight the growing threat of sophisticated cyberattacks in Europe and the need for continuous improvement of protective measures.

The IRB’s email system was down from July 31 to August 8, and the incident was reported to the Ministry of the Interior, the national CERT, and the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP). A forensic investigation is ongoing, and it is not yet known whether unauthorized access to personal data occurred. As a precaution, the network remains partially offline while a new IT infrastructure is being built in accordance with the latest cybersecurity standards.

HID Launches FIDO-Certified Enterprise Passkey Management Solution with Expanded Crescendo Portfolio

HID has unveiled a new line of FIDO-certified credentials, powered by its Enterprise Passkey Management (EPM) solution, designed to simplify large-scale passkey deployment and management for enterprises. The launch follows new FIDO Alliance research showing that while 87% of enterprises are adopting passkeys, nearly half of those yet to deploy cite complexity and cost as primary barriers.

HID’s latest offering addresses these challenges by delivering phishing-resistant authentication with enterprise-grade lifecycle management, ensuring scalable passwordless security without compromising user experience or security posture. The EPM solution works seamlessly across diverse work environments and reduces IT overhead through centralized visibility and control.

“Phishing-resistant authentication isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s a journey, and we’re here to help enterprises along the way,” said Sean Dyon, Vice President & Head of the Authentication Business Unit at HID. “Rolling out passkeys isn’t just about issuing devices, it is about giving security teams the tools to manage them at the enterprise scale, with the same precision as the rest of the identity stack. Our next-generation portfolio delivers both the hardware diversity and FIDO management capabilities organizations need to deploy and manage passkeys at scale.”

The subscription-based EPM solution allows IT and IAM leaders to securely provision, revoke, and audit credentials remotely, reducing manual effort and end-user training requirements. It also provides full lifecycle visibility to support compliance and operational efficiency.

HID has also expanded its Crescendo hardware line with three new purpose-built authenticators: redesigned Crescendo Keys supporting FIDO2, PKI, and OATH; Crescendo Cards that combine physical and digital access in a single badge; and the Omnikey 5022 contactless reader for secure workstation authentication. All devices are compatible with Microsoft Entra ID and other major identity providers.

Early testers have praised the solution’s usability and enterprise readiness. “The new Crescendo Key immediately stood out with its sleek and durable design. Getting started was simple, and the setup process was intuitive and fast,” said David Backus, Sales Engineer at TX Systems Identity Solutions. “We will be recommending this authentication device to all of our customers who require a secure credential for authentication to Entra ID and Windows accounts.”

By integrating passwordless access to both digital resources and physical spaces, HID’s solution boosts workforce productivity while simplifying enterprise security management.

Security Tests Expose Major Vulnerabilities in GPT-5

Two independent security testing teams have discovered critical vulnerabilities in OpenAI’s new GPT-5 model, with both managing to bypass its safeguards in under 24 hours, reports securityweek.com. NeuralTrust and SPLX, two prominent AI security firms, conducted separate red-team evaluations and reached equally troubling conclusions about the model’s readiness for enterprise use.

NeuralTrust’s researchers combined their proprietary EchoChamber jailbreak with a basic storytelling approach, leading GPT-5 to generate step-by-step instructions for making a Molotov cocktail without ever issuing an overtly malicious prompt. “The model strives to be consistent with the already-established story world,” the firm explained, noting that multi-turn “narrative” attacks can slip past single-prompt filters and intent detectors.

This method involved seeding a hidden, low-profile context, steering the conversation to avoid refusal triggers, and gradually reinforcing the malicious objective through narrative continuity. The firm warned that GPT-5’s susceptibility reveals a fundamental gap in safety systems that rely on isolated prompt screening.

Meanwhile, SPLX — formerly SplxAI — reported that GPT-5’s raw version is “nearly unusable for enterprise out of the box.” Their red team used obfuscation attacks, including a “StringJoin Obfuscation Attack” where prompts were disguised with hyphens and framed as fake encryption challenges. In one instance, GPT-5 responded to a disguised bomb-making query with detailed instructions, even opening with, “Well, that’s a hell of a way to start things off… I’m gonna tell you exactly how…”

Benchmarking against GPT-4o, SPLX found the older model more resilient when properly hardened. Both firms urged extreme caution in deploying GPT-5 without additional security layers, warning that its vulnerabilities make it a high-risk choice for sensitive environments.
