THE SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023 ENDS WITH GREAT SATISFACTION

Technological innovation ensuring efficiency and interoperability, a wide-range debate on hot issues, and qualified training sessions characterised the three-day event packed with operators facing the challenge of integration.

Milan, 4 December 2023. A vast turnout, popular conferences, a broad debate on the opportunities of the smart evolution of buildings and cities: SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023, the home and building automation and technological integration event organised by Fiera Milano and Pentastudio, ended in success thus confirming itself as the event of reference for the Italian market.

An edition characterised by a lot of innovation: SBE, together with SICUREZZA, MADE expo and GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition, participated in a broader event: the MIBA-Milan International Building Alliance, the format that, for the first time, brought under one umbrella four vertical shows that, in different ways and with multiple proposals, contribute to the sustainable and smart evolution of buildings and cities. A cross-offer available to visitors with a single ticket and attended by more than 80,000 operators hailing from 111 countries.

As part of this event, SMART BUILDING EXPO, with its 142 exhibitors from 15 countries, was an opportunity to review platforms, solutions, and products that are fundamental for making buildings smart and making them communicate with each other within the context of a smart city.

THREE DAYS TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THE MARKET IS HEADED

The three days of SBE were characterised by an intense exchange that took place around the four “Innovation Squares”, dedicated to Home and Building Automation, System Integration, Renewable Energy and the steadily growing world of Audio-Video.

There was great interest in the topic of digital building infrastructure as an enabling technology for opening up to new services, especially when combined with an open source edge computer capable of focusing the intelligence required for operation while avoiding the proliferation of redundant equipment.

Efficiency, effectiveness, and interoperability embodied the underlying message of an event that offered a different way of looking at buildings and homes, today increasingly understood as veritable hubs of citizen services.

Many said that “Something has changed” and the feeling is that this is only the beginning of a long-lasting phenomenon that will permanently change our homes, leading to the green revolution that is the focus of the European directives on sustainability.

A great deal of attention has emerged around the so-called BACS (Building Automation Control Systems), undervalued resources so far that can lead to major improvements in the energy performance of buildings, especially existing ones, without affecting the envelope. Savings can be as high as 25-30%.

Another topic of significant impact, discussed at many stands and seminars, was the “data driven” building and city, meaning the collection and management of data as a tool to produce effective and predictive actions.

EXCELLENCE TRAINING FOR AN EVER EVOLVING SECTOR

In such a rapidly changing context, it became clear how indispensable it is for the sector operators to be informed and trained on the ongoing evolution.

With a schedule of over 50 meetings and initiatives designed to provide opportunities for discussion and professional development at all levels, SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023 provided a full insight into the sector’s innovation over the three days of the exhibition, while also focusing on trends and development opportunities.

A number of high-profile speeches took place, including, for example, that of Architect Cino Zucchi and the associates of ALA-Assoarchitetti, which discussed the topic of the change that the use of new technologies is bringing to the city and buildings, and how technology is changing the habits of citizens, also impacting the real estate sector.

A topic that also marked the high-level debate that characterised the third Milano Smart City Conference, which for the first time took place in two different sessions: the first on 14 November at Assimpredil ANCE in Milan and the second at Fiera Milano on 15 November.

SMART BUILDING EXPO will be back at Fiera Milano from 19 to 21 November 2025, as part of the MIBA-Milan International Building Alliance, confirming the same formula while also featuring SBE, SICUREZZA, MADE expo and GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition.

SICUREZZA 2023 WAS A SUCCESS: INNOVATION COMES FROM ALL SECTORS

  • There was great interest in the first edition of MIBA, which saw more than 80,000 operators present. A synergy that enhances the role of security in the evolution of buildings and as a key element of integrated solutions
  • Digitalisation, customisation and efficiency are the drivers of the offer, but great interest in enhancing professional profiles also emerged during the three days. The drive for virtuous collaboration between the public and private sectors is increasing.
  • There was great satisfaction among exhibitors who saw their networking and business opportunities amplified in the MIBA setting.

Milan, 4 December 2023. Digital transition and cyber security, customisation – both functional and aesthetic -, efficiency – aimed at energy saving but also at user comfort -, sustainability, but also continuous professional training and the valorisation of public-private partnerships: these are the topics of discussion that characterised the latest edition of SICUREZZA, which closed at Fiera Milano on last 17 November, enthusiastically welcomed by companies and visitors. This enthusiasm was reinforced by the strategic MIBA-Milan International Building Alliance, of which SICUREZZA is a part together with SMART BUILDING EXPO, MADE expo and GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition, and which was able to showcase building innovation across the board.

This proposal has significant numbers that confirm MIBA as a winning proposition: more than 80,000 operators from 111 countries met the 1350 exhibitors; all enriched by a solid campaign to recruit profiled top buyers with high spending power, identified in collaboration with the ITA-ICE Agency.

THE EXHIBITION PROPOSAL

SICUREZZA 2023 showcased the most innovative security&fire proposals, and also enhanced them, thanks to MIBA, in a wider scenario focusing on the evolution of buildings and cities in a smart direction.

There were three main trends in the offer: digitisation and high technology, necessary for ensuring quality and integration for each service; customisation, to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers and application sectors, in terms of functionality, scalability, but also design; and efficiency in consumption and operations, to meet user demands for energy and cost savings, but also for comfort and accessibility. These trends are profoundly linked to each other, under the banner of an integrated approach, involving a new understanding of how to manage spaces – be they residential, infrastructures, retail or industrial – to suit real needs.

CCTV, fire prevention, intrusion detection, access control and passive security are increasingly converging with each other. The proposals presented were diverse and evolved, capable of exploiting artificial intelligence, deep learning and IoT to perform complex data reading and analysis automatically and quickly. Universal protocols, Apps and cloud-based management integrate and connect various services, where fire & security & safety systems are increasingly integrated with security systems, guaranteeing ease, efficiency, but also preventive maintenance.

Nowadays, videosurveillance is an advanced and multifaceted intelligent mechanism, remotely managed and often integrated with other intrusion detection and home-automation services, through customised solutions for any public or private environment. The new smart cameras are capable of autonomously tracking specific individuals or objects through established morphological parameters and can send immediate notifications via app in the event of abnormal behaviour. Advanced CCTV systems for access control provide analytical monitoring of incoming or outgoing flows, allowing even the profiling of human or road traffic in sensitive locations.

Access control, intrusion detection and passive security systems also address digital transition and integrated customised solutions for homes, workplaces and public spaces. The solutions are modular and can be integrated, allowing continuous updating, they can be managed by App and each part can be customised in design: handles and electronic cylinders are easy to install and offer modular solutions for remote access management in both small and large environments; smart video intercoms dialogue with the building’s internal mobility systems to facilitate access; control units and sirens can be managed via App and combine design shapes, low-impact materials, high-resistance paints and customisable colour finishes.

Fire protection fits into this ecosystem, with reliable, customised and digital solutions for predictive and comprehensive monitoring of all building features, not only in residential but also in important infrastructures.

At SICUREZZA, new multitasking fire alarm control panels were presented, capable of managing extinguishing, gas detection, emergency lighting, and public-addressing at the same time; new extraction systems were presented, capable of distinguishing a real fire from a false alarm; all accompanied by cloud and App solutions, capable of decisively simplifying both the installation and maintenance phases.

Similarly, in public contexts, security is evolving in a highly technological and tailor-made direction: SICUREZZA featured certified temporary anti-terrorism deterrents suitable for securing large events, advanced drone-detection systems capable of intervening on the aerial trajectories of suspicious drones, and robot dogs, ground-based drones that are used both on construction sites and in the event of earthquakes and natural disasters, to dig without putting human beings at risk.

CONTINUOUS TRAINING AND VALORISATION OF PROFESSIONS

Once again this year, SICUREZZA was fertile ground for professional development, with more than 50 industry-specific training events held over the three days of the event, which complemented the MIBA training schedule.

Vigilance Operators, Security Managers, Installers, System Integrators and Designers all found solutions in the events at the trade fair. Associations, publishers, certification bodies and companies were able to provide an accurate picture of a rapidly changing sector, with the intention of taking stock of today’s security industry culture, to ensure that it is recognised, disseminated and promoted, reaffirming the convergence needed between the public and private sectors.

Some of the topics discussed included: digital transition, digital-awareness of professionals, but also the necessary valorisation of their skills through training and certification. In addition to digitisation, there is also the issue of efficiency, a concept underpinning the new smart-building and smart-city, which aim to become accessible and sustainable spaces in both environmental and human terms, and therefore safe.

The fact that many Italian associations chose to hold their own institutional meetings during the event confirmed SICUREZZA as a relevant space for discussion for the sector, highlighting the desire and need to promote a public and shared exchange on current and future projects.

Lastly, the Cyber Security Arena events, organised by Business International, allowed us to take stock of the current situation of cyber security, including the objectives already achieved and the many risks still to be faced. The talks and the “useful” tips discussed cyber risk, artificial intelligence, and the current geopolitical scenario, but also Cyber Awareness, data security in Smart-Building and Smart-City, as well as the new frontiers of Cyber Threat Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and blockchain as an innovative approach to cyber security.

The next SICUREZZA event will be held from 19 to 21 November 2025, again as part of MIBA, which, after its successful debut, confirms its format.

MIBA IT’S THE NEW INTERNATIONAL HUB FOR THE BUILDING SECTOR

  • The synergy between related sectors was successful, offering an integrated and innovative vision of solutions to address the energy and digital transition of buildings and cities
  • More than 80,000 operators from 111 countries appreciated the offers from the more than 1350 exhibiting companies. 427 international hosted buyers from 72 countries, selected in cooperation with the ITA-ICE Agency

Milan, 22 November 2023 – The first edition of MIBA-Milan International Building Alliance closed at Fiera Milano with more than 80,000 professional operators; the event combined four exhibitions dedicated to the sustainable and smart evolution of buildings and cities, consolidating its position as a new international reference hub for the sectors in the four twice-yearly appointments: horizontal and vertical mobility at GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition, construction at MADE expo, technological integration at SBE-SMART BUILDING EXPO and security&fire at SICUREZZA.

An offer that caught the attention of foreign operators from 111 countries, with the largest numbers coming from Europe (mainly Switzerland, Spain, France, Romania, Greece, Germany, Poland and the UK), Turkey and China. However, there was no shortage of operators who chose to visit MIBA from very distant countries. Among the most represented were: Venezuela, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Singapore, Thailand and Senegal.

These are impressive numbers, but the most striking feature was the level of business meetings, thanks to the high profiling of the 427 hosted buyers, who travelled to Milan thanks to the cooperation with the ITA-ICE Agency, as well as the quality of spontaneous visitors, frequently represented by corporate decision-makers with high spending power.

The systematic strategy at the heart of MIBA’s proposal also caught the attention of several foreign consulates and officials involved in the development of international trade relations, particularly from Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean Basin, which are interesting target markets for the solutions on display.

The dynamic social channels of the four events were also remarkable: in just four days reached more than 350,000 contacts; generated almost 60,000 interactions and an increase in the fan-base of around 1500 followers on the various channels.

Three trends characterised the events across the board: sustainability, customisation and digitisation of solutions. All sectors are now moving towards productivity criteria characterised by optimisation of resources and environmental sustainability, while digitalisation is progressively linking markets and making the solutions presented ever more tailor-made, whether it be building materials, finishes or technological solutions.

The varied programme of conferences was of great interest: with sectors evolving rapidly and synergistically, continuing education becomes a key element to remain globally competitive. MIBA offered all professionals more than 250 meetings, thus offering a new synergistic vision that fits perfectly into the integration trends of the various market segments.

The next MIBA event will be held at Fiera Milano in November 2025. Sicurezza, GEE and SBE will be held from the 19th to the 21st, MADE expo confirms a four-day run, until the 22nd.

Soaring on Dragon’s Wings to Success

The most successful Adria Security Summit Powered by Intersec has closed its doors in Ljubljana. Behind them, it left a trail of record-breaking figures in all categories: with its 150 exhibitors, 2800 guests from 43 countries, and 5000 held meetings, the Summit confirmed its position as a leading regional event for the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and business opportunities in the world of security and sectors based on it.

As visitation numbers can sometimes sound dry, let’s start the story of this year’s Summit with an anecdote that we opened this year’s event with a four-legged robot and a dragon. The robotic guard dog was the messenger of the future of the industry that we are dedicated to, while we adopted the Ljubljana Dragon, the symbol of this city, as the informal mascot of this year’s Summit. From the robodog, we borrowed the symbolism of loyalty to the idea of promoting security, while the Dragon was the source of strength to turn that loyalty into an extremely successful event whose statistical records are backed by an organization supported by rich experience and the largest turnout of guests from all over the world.

In Prestigious Company: Among the Security 50 Elite and Premier Regional Exhibitors

We proudly hosted no fewer than 150 exhibitors at this year’s Adria Security Summit, marking the largest number of participants ever. More importantly, it also includes 10 security companies from the prestigious Security 50 list of the world’s best market players (Hikvision, ASSA ABLOY, Nedap, Suprema, ZK Teco, Uniview, Avigilon by Motorola Solutions, etc.), as well as the cream of the crop in regional companies such as Alarm automatika, Akoda +, CreaPlus, Eccos Inženjering, Tenzor, Systeh, TRS, and others. This impressive figure confirms the growing reputation and importance of our event in the security industry and beyond. Among the participants, we would like to especially thank the sponsors, which number 180 companies, including the diamond (Alarm automatica, Konica Minolta), platinum (A koda plus, Ateis Europe, Bosch Security and Safety Systems, CREAPlus, Monitoreal, Nedap Security Management, Suprema Europe, Teksel , ZKTeco Europe), and gold sponsors (Advancis, ASSA ABLOY, Hikvision, Kaspersky, Avigilon by Motorola Solutions, PRIANTO, Qognify, Ruijie Networks, SALTO Systems, Spica Group, Stelkom, Tenzor, TecnoAlarm, Ultravision Consult, Zarja elektronika).

A Regional Event with Global Impact and Record-Breaking Attendance

We cannot conclude the story of statistics without the inevitable numbers, and this year they once again served as an illustration of the fact that this year’s Summit with a record 2,800 guests from 43 countries recorded a 12% increase in the number of visitors compared to the high 2,500 from last year’s gathering in Zagreb. It is important to note that almost 17% of them came from outside the region, which leads to the conclusion that the Summit has quietly outgrown its regional uniform and dressed in a new international outfit. Thus, the Gospodarsko Razštavišče venue opened its door to guests with travel documents from Great Britain, the United States of America, Cyprus, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, China, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, Norway, Canada, Romania, Israel, France, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Ukraine, Hungary, Greece, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Finland and Taiwan.

This by no means suggests that the already traditionally good response of regional visitors is something to be glossed over because the Summit still proudly carries the word “Adria” as its seal of recognizability. In this segment, the structure of guests clearly reflects the regional recognition of the Summit and the expressed interest of the participants to use it as a bridge for establishing cooperation with the rest of the world. The largest number of guests comes from Croatia and the host country Slovenia, with shares of 22.23% and 20.71% respectively. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and North Macedonia are also significantly represented, with 12.28%, 17.57%, and 8.66%. Although with a slightly smaller share in relation to the number of inhabitants, Montenegro was well represented at the event with 2.30% of guests, which shows that the commitment to the development of the security industry has nothing to do with the country’s population size or the square kilometers in the atlas.

Almost 40% of the participants are the highest-ranked company representatives

Adria Security Summit 2023 proved to be a rock-solid axis for connecting professionals from different sectors, with a dynamic structure of participants that emphasizes the event’s inclusive approach to security and related industries. As an illustration, let us cite the fact that again this year the Summit served as a versatile platform for business networking on the spot, with a record 5,000 meetings held. This year’s Summit was attended by an impressive 38.06% of senior management representatives and executives, which is an indication of the attractiveness of the event among the highest decision-makers in the security sector and related industries. Regional or national sales and distribution executives, managers, and staff made up a significant 21.58% of attendees. The “technical” segment of the profession at the Summit was not neglected either, with 17.83% of participants representing engineers, experts, and developers. The middle level of management, which consists of managers of key clients, projects, and business development, made up 15.68% of those present.

The Summit as a Mirror of Industry Evolution: The Rise of Cyber Security

Adria Security Summit as a concept was developed from the beginning as a dynamic mirror of industrial trends which, among other things, are reflected in the representation of participants with the entire range of products and verticals from which they come. Video surveillance solutions continue to hold a prominent place at the Summit, with 18.03% of the exhibition space dedicated to them. Unsurprisingly, video surveillance is followed by cyber security solutions (10.19% of exhibitors), which is a reconfirmation of the Summit’s role as a messenger of the industry trends, which, today, puts an increasing focus on protecting digital assets and systems from cyber threats. Another surprise at the Summit was the high representation (10.61%) of fire alarms, smoke, and gas warning equipment, and solutions for fire protection and evacuation. This category has shown the all-time relevance of dedication to fire protection and the need for the best possible response to emergencies that follow people practically from the moment the first fire is lit.

Access control and time & attendance systems, with their 8.20% representation, had standard good visibility, and together with anti-burglary and accompanying alarm systems (9.52%), they make up an important piece of the security pie that industry representatives still rely on today. This spectrum is closed by mechanical security (4.21%) and perimeter protection systems (5.32%), which are indicators of the permanent importance of the combination of “old-school” technical security and new technological solutions for everyone who is looking for a holistic approach to the protection of life and property at the Summit.

Other significant sectors include smart homes and cities and automation solutions (6.80%) which are equally represented by the IT/ICT industry (7.71%) as a relatively new but nowadays inevitable part of the security, IT, and communication landscapes of modern living and business. Finally, many verticals collectively covered 9.49% of the exhibition segment and they include communications and transportation, manufacturing, construction and architecture, retail and distribution, banking/finance, hospitality, education, oil and gas, healthcare, mobility, the housing sector, and pharmacy. The diversity of these verticals is indicative of the growing security needs in each of them, positioning Summit as a key platform within which these professionals can easily explore and find solutions to their business challenges and dilemmas.

Ahead of Sarajevo 2024 Event

With a range of topics and case studies, the Adria Security Summit 2023 left guests and participants with plenty of topics to think about, which they will ultimately easily “melt” into actionable items in their business strategies. The event in Ljubljana completed a cycle in which the Summit managed to establish itself as a central place for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and technological achievements in the security and other sectors. Before returning to Sarajevo, the place where the Adria Security Summit took its first steps on the way to becoming the largest regional industrial event of its type back in 2015, the organizers face the important but also sweet challenge of surpassing everything achieved so far, and to the satisfaction of all participants without which this road to success would be longer and thornier. Until we meet in Sarajevo in 2024, let the Adria Security Summit 2023 remain the most-read chapter in the story of the success of our industrial event and its audience.

SICUREZZA 2023: THE SECURITY & FIRE SECTOR MEETS IN ITALY

The event, one of the most important in Europe for the sector, is just around the corner. SICUREZZA will take place at Fiera Milano, Rho, from 15 to 17 November.

With less than two months to go before its inauguration, SICUREZZA 2023, the biennial international exhibition dedicated to security & fire solutions, unveils its program providing a preview of the topics and protagonists of an edition that promises to be a major opportunity to understand the market trends and to evaluate the most innovative solutions for protecting people, goods, and cities.

In a panorama of great changes, three are the keywords for this project: digitisation, integration and professionalism, all topics around which will revolve many novelties featured at the fair, both in terms of product offerings and conference workshops now involving every sectors.

Three days to discover the most innovative solutions, meet the brand leaders and discuss about the market trends and upcoming scenarios.

All the information about the event, the ticket office and the list of participating companies are already available online at https://expoplaza-sicurezza.fieramilano.it/en?_locale=it

TRENDS AND HIGHLIGHTS

Digitisation is driving the security sector towards a profound transformation. Just think of smart cameras, integrated home automation solutions, intrusion or fire alarm systems manageable by APP, the use of IOT and artificial intelligence, predictive or remote maintenance. These novelties also change the role of security managers, installers, and system integrators who are now called upon to develop an increasingly wide-ranging set of technical skills, including advanced IT training and specific regulatory knowledge.

SICUREZZA 2023, as always, will gather all these aspects completely and thoroughly, outlining in its space – physical and conceptual – the most up-to-date trends.

The products on display will be key: the number of participating companies has grown compared to the last edition, thanks also to new entries and the return of major brands.

Therefore, this will be a particularly interesting and highly representative edition for every sector, and this will make it possible to analyse the current scenarios, take stock of future ones and review the best technologies available today for the various fields of application.

MIBA’S HOLISTIC APPROACH

Something entirely new in this edition is the fact that SICUREZZA will be part of MIBA-Milan International Building Alliance, a strategic alliance that brings together four events linked by a single element: the evolution of buildings and cities. Together with SICUREZZA there will be the GEE – Global Elevator Exhibition, dedicated to horizontal and vertical mobility, the SMART BUILDING EXPO, Italy’s event for home and building automation and technological integration, and ME-MADE Expo, Italy’s leading international event for innovative and sustainable solutions for buildings and envelopes (which will last an extra day as usual, until 18 November).

MIBA was born from an assumption: the role of the building is changing and with it the construction industry. In fact, a building is no longer a simple container, but a service provider; a premise that calls for ever closer collaboration of the various sectors involved in design, material selection, mobility, system installation and security systems, with the shared objective of creating comfortable, safe, welcoming and sustainable environments.

In this context, MIBA’s cross-sector offer to provide a holistic and comprehensive view of the latest trends in the various sectors, at a time when achieving the goals of innovation and sustainability requires convergence and cooperation between professionals and related markets.

On the other hand, the advantage is also practical; visitors can access four trade fairs simultaneously in one location.

NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

THE PARTNER OFFER, MIBA AND THE CYBERSECURITY ARENA

Another majoy highlight of SICUREZZA 2023 will be, as always, its training schedule that thanks to the collaboration with publishers, associations and international stakeholders, will make it possible to take stock of market scenarios, regulations, certification and new professional skills.

An opportunity for professional growth amplified, this year, by all the MIBA fairs that visitors can choose to attend according to their interests.

Grouped into three thematic sections – innovation, sustainability, and regulations – the global conference schedule will offer unique training opportunities for professionals, sometimes even offering training credits.

The Cyber Security Arena is back too. In a market of customised, integrated and interconnected solutions, the arena offers a broad overview of the challenges in digital security and data protection through in-depth meetings and practical sessions. The Arena will host Cyber Security Talks, in-depth discussions with industry experts on current and future scenarios, and Cyber Security Tips, a pragmatic half-hour format, aimed at providing practical information on risk analysis tools, main trends in cyber attacks and cyber-awareness.

SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023: EVEN MORE ROOM FOR INNOVATION

At a particularly favourable time for the sector, the event is getting ready for its fourth edition with plenty of special areas and training events

Milan, 19 September 2023. For a supply chain with enormous potential, an exhibition capable of supporting and training professionals in the sector: SMART BUILDING EXPO, the home and building automation and technological integration event organised by Fiera Milano and Pentastudio, looks forward with optimism to its fourth edition, scheduled to take place at Fiera Milano (Rho) from 15 to 17 November 2023, ready to offer to trade operators not only a rich exhibition programme, but also many valuable opportunities for training and getting up to date on an evolving sector.

The figures speak for themselves: the Italian Smart Building market is worth 130 billion euros. Every 100 euros directly invested in the sector a further 187 euros cascade takes place, with an exponential effect on the economy. This means that today Smart Building generates 39 billion added value. In terms of employment, too, the effects are many: for every 100 jobs, the Intelligent Building sector triggers 178 jobs for a total of 278 full-time employees (Source: European House Ambrosetti, 2023).

In this context, professionals cannot lag behind. This is why SMART BUILDING EXPO is preparing for an even more representative edition, given the number of participating brands, with a schedule of events and initiatives designed to provide space for professional training at every level.

THE 2023 EDITION

SBE’s proposal can be summarised by two keywords: innovation and integration. Thanks to a growing offer (30% more companies compared to the last edition), the event will showcase products, solutions, and technologies that today enable buildings and cities to evolve into a smart approach, transforming themselves from simple spaces into service providers – from health to education, entertainment, and mobility – offering a very important return in terms of energy efficiency, safety, comfort and sustainability.

SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023 will see the debut of four Innovation Squares created with the support of associations and publishing companies to provide a vertical insight into markets revolving around the evolution of building and smart cities:

Renewable Energy Area

Entrusted to the care of the prestigious publication Rinnovabili.it, the Renewable Area will address some of the hottest topics of the energy transition, from the role of artificial intelligence to that of Renewable Energy Communities in the national decarbonisation process, and finally to the use of low-enthalpy geothermal energy.

Home and Building Automation Area

Entrusted to the care of the Smart Buildings Alliance Italia, the federation that promote the intelligent buildings sector within the Digital City, the Home & Building Automation Area will offer a cross-section of the hottest themes in the sector: from network architecture to digital building infrastructure, with a presentation of the R2S (ready to service) protocol, from edge computing at the service of the building to the concept of digital energy.

 System Integration Area

Entrusted to the care of the AIBACS (Italian Association of Building Automation and Control Systems), the System Integration Area will focus on the key issues related to the use of BMS and BACS systems for the integration of the main building systems, presenting a cross-section of the main protocols in use and the professional skills that are essential to ensure the optimal operation of a smart building.

AV Playground Area

Managed by the magazine Connessioni, the contents of the area dedicated to the world of professional audio-video wants to establish contact between technology and application manufacturers and the so-called end users, meaning the vast range of areas where the use of professional audio-video systems represents an increasingly important resource.

 PROFESSIONAL TRAINING: THE ADDED VALUE

SMART BUILDING EXPO 2023, through a programme of training events that will take place over the three days of the exhibition, will provide a comprehensive insight into the complexity of the sector.

Flagship of the programme is the third edition of the Milano Smart City Conference that will take stock of the innovation of Italian cities in a smart key and the contribution of technologies in this process. The event doubles this year: a first technical session will take place on 14 November at the Milan headquarters of ASSIMPREDIL-ANCE, while the second session will be held on 15 November afternoon, the opening day of SBE.

SBE will also discuss Energy Communities, thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Council of Industrial Engineers, which will offer a workshop entirely dedicated to a topic that is revolutionising the face of cities.

Unimpresa Impianti, instead, will offer an in-depth look at the NRRP and subsidised finance measures, while a reflection on the ongoing energy revolution will be carried out by Rinnovabili.IT and ANIE Rinnovabili.

Finally, ALA Assoarchitetti will discuss the relationship between new technologies and architecture with a focus on Building 4.0.

MIBA, A SYNERGY BETWEEN RELATED MARKETS

With the goal of boosting business opportunities for exhibitors and visitors, SBE 2023 will be part of MIBA – Milan International Building Alliance, that will bring together four events in a single occasion: GEE – Global Elevator Exhibition, the new event dedicated to horizontal and vertical mobility, SICUREZZA, the exhibition of reference in Italy and among the first in Europe dedicated to security & fire, ME-MADE expo, the leading international event in Italy for innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry and, of course, SMART BUILDING EXPO.

The synergy between these events, which are the expression of various markets called to interact and work together for the creation of efficient buildings, offers the parties operating in this industry the opportunity to discover what the most qualified companies have to offer thanks to an expo that will spread across 8 halls. Visitors to SBE will have the opportunity, with a single ticket, to visit the other 4 events and participate in the various training events of interest at each of the other expos taking place simultaneously.
