Security TWENTY 21: next stop is in London!

Partizan British “tour” goes on. The traditional conference on security systems from Professional Security Magazine will take place in the capital of the United Kingdom on November 16.

The leading thematic magazine of the country holds such meetings several times a year for manufacturers, installers, integrators and end users. The main goal of the event is to tell the participants about current events and innovations in the security industry, as well as create comfortable conditions for communication between key industry players.

In October, Partizan equipment was already presented at Security TWENTY 21 in Glasgow (Scotland), where it aroused great interest among conference attendees. It’s time to build on our success in London!

Our booth is #17. Partizan will be represented by our leading UK distributor Ian Walker and ACT Safeguard.

Do you want to work? Measure temperature and check QR codes with Partizan STD-2MP!

Business feels relieved. In several countries around the world, the government has allowed catering establishments, entertainment venues, gyms and shops not to close during the ongoing pandemic. One of the conditions is temperature measurement and checking of “covid” QR codes of visitors. The multifunctional system Partizan STD-2MP with reader PAR-QM11 v1.0 copes with this task as quickly and accurately as possible.

 How does it work?

The user approaches a special terminal and scans his COVID certificate. If it is valid, the device also instantly measures the guest’s temperature. Everything is fine? Come in, glad to see you.

This is how the STD-2MP access control system works with a PAR-QM11 QR code scanner connected via USB. It sounds simple, but its possibilities are much wider than it might seem.

Your documents!

A unified Digital Covid Certificate (EU DCC) has already been adopted in the countries of the European Union. This is what the system reads by default. However, at the request of the client, STD-2MP can be configured to work with an internal certificate of any other country, the requirements for which sometimes differ.

For example, in one country visits to public places are allowed with a certificate of only the first vaccination. In another, at the entrance they require confirmation of the full course of vaccination.

Also, according to EU laws, the decision to let a person in is made by the administrator – based on the received data about the certificate and the visitor’s temperature.

There is no place for mistakes

The prescription for mandatory temperature screening in public places is worth considering in more detail. Most often, this procedure is carried out with a standard hand-held scanner. But, as practice has shown, such devices constantly make mistakes. It’s cold outside? In this case, the temperature of the exposed parts of the human body may turn out to be several degrees lower than in reality. So on the forehead or the back of the hand, the thermo scanner will show the ideal 36.6 C. Although the visitor himself has 38.2 C.

The intelligent algorithms of the STD-2MP “take into account” weather conditions and make corrections for them in the calculations. The terminal even takes into account the presence of a cap, compares the indicators with the temperature of other visitors and surrounding objects.

Where is your mask?

Partizan STD-2MP terminal not only “feels”, but also “sees”. The built-in IP CCTV camera based on a high-tech 1/2.7″ FullHD CMOS matrix with a resolution of 2.0 megapixels can recognize faces and presence of the mask.

At the same time, the device is capable of memorizing 22,400 faces and 100,000 events. A very useful feature for keeping track of visits and creating a visitor/staff database.

Information is always at hand

STD-2MP is supported by Partizan mobile application. Therefore, QR codes and the faces of their owners can be easily viewed and saved in the App’s Event Gallery. Right on your smartphone!

The terminal will also send you reports on valid or invalid COVID certificates of visitors – in the form of PUSH notifications to mobile phones and emails.

Not just for covid purposes …

The STD-2MP paired with the PAR-QM11 reader can be used not only for checking personnel and visitors for the presence of “covid passports”. It is great for controlling:

  • Temporary passes to secure facilities with limited access
  • Office cards
  • Tickets to concerts, parties and sport events

Business, live!

COVID-19 is not going to retreat in the near future. However, neither consumers nor business owners can remain “locked up” for years. All the prerequisites are already in place for people to be able to work, travel and visit public places. Vaccination and negative test certificates, temperature control and wearing masks have all proven their worth.

Partizan STD-2MP system with a PAR-QM11 QR code scanner will allow you to effectively comply with local regulations. This means it will help your business stay afloat even in a pandemic!

Vanderbilt takes first big step into China

Vanderbilt recently made further considerable inroads in the Asia Pacific market as the company won its first project in China which expands the existing significant footprint in South-East Asia to the North. The project is a medium-sized, 60-door installation of ACT Pro for a European multinational.

ACT Pro is Vanderbilt’s award-winning access control system designed in Ireland and sold mainly in Europe for the last 20 years. It was introduced to the Asia Pacific market in 2018.

Bernard Neo, Region Sales Manager for Asia Pacific, outlines the main feedback he has received from the marketplace to date regarding ACT Pro. “From talking to potential customers,” Neo begins, “ACT Pro is very well accepted. Price-point-wise, it’s very competitive and the origin of the brand also gives a boost to the quality of the product.”

Melvyn Teo, Vanderbilt’s Market Development Manager in Asia Pacific, concurs with this assessment, adding, “Vanderbilt is still a pretty new brand here in Asia. Some of the other Asian brands have been selling here for 10-15-20 years. So they have more traction and leverage here. While ACT Pro has been selling in Europe for 20 years it has only been in Asia for 3 years. But ACT Pro has all the nice and sophisticated features of a Western branded product at an Asian price point. A Western branded product is perceived to be a bit more professional, more stable, and yet the product is also lot more value for money. So, there is a very positive outlook here on ACTpro.”

The project win, which is Vanderbilt’s first step into the Chinese market, came about through collaboration with their partner Anixter. Vanderbilt and ACT Pro were put forward by Anixter due to Vanderbilt’s well-supplied Sales team in the region, which has the trusted ability to offer on the ground support, as well as the critical factor that Vanderbilt is one of the few access control brands in Asia Pacific that has the correct local certifications for the Chinese market.

Mr. Teo explains: “Every tender will always ask you for a reference in the country where you’re trying to sell your product. They will want to know can they visit your site. This project means that now we have an important project in China with a multinational European company. It will be a very good push point for us to get engagement and grow more business in China and other regions, as it also shows, that beyond the local supply, we can serve multinational customers with corporate solutions and providing local support and implementation on a global scale”.

Mr. Neo expands on this point, adding that in China, you’re always competing with the locals. “The way business is conducted in China, especially where distribution is concerned, is always low margins-high volume,” says Mr. Neo. “So, it can be difficult for us to compete at this level. But now, with this project, it will be easier for new partners to come on board with us, knowing there is already a strong reference site. There will definitely be a lot of spillover effects.”

This project will deliver Vanderbilt more exposure in the Chinese market, especially when it comes to European and international investments into China. “They will know that they have a European product that can comply with European standards like GDPR as well as the local CCC certifications,” says Mr. Teo.

Dahua TechMonth Featuring WizMind: 3 Reasons To Use Dahua ANPR 2.0 In Parking Lots

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is often spoken of as an application for collecting license plate data of vehicles traveling on highways and city streets. As such, parking lot management is a sometimes-overlooked beneficiary of ANPR technology. Installing ANPR cameras in parking lots can provide high return on investment for residential complexes, school campuses, parking lots with time restrictions, or any parking facility that would normally require a patrol to make rounds to check for unauthorized vehicles.

Thinking of revamping your parking lot management system? Here are three reasons why you should consider Dahua’s ANPR 2.0.

It’s highly accurate.

ANPR function is an integral feature of the Dahua ANPR 2.0. The recommended WizMind cameras that support ANPR are the 4MP IR Bullet WizMind Network Cameras (IPC-HFW7842H-ZVHIPC-HFW7842H-Z4VH) and the 8MP IR Bullet WizMind Network Cameras (IPC-HFW7442H-ZVHIPC-HFW7442H-Z4VH). These cameras can accurately recognize number plate information of more than 87 countries and other vehicle attributes in the scene, offering a detection rate of up to 99% and recognition rate of up to 95%. Aside from ANPR, these devices also offer other AI functions including Video Metadata, and IVS.

In addition, ANPR cameras also support blocklist and allowlist functions to ensure security in the monitored scene. It allows access to those in the allowlist and sends an alarm when a blocklisted vehicle plate number has been detected. Additionally, it also features VIP Recognition that can be used in company offices and residential areas to provide smooth access for VIP customers and residents.

It maximizes efficiency.

The Dahua ANPR 2.0 also features Parking Space Management function. It gives operators the ability to capture data of vehicles entering and exiting the parking lot and display the number of available parking spaces in real time via LED screens. The system can track how many cars are parked in a given zone (up to 80 parking spaces can be covered per camera depending on different heights) and can analyze how many cars are usually in that zone at a particular time. Users can even monitor multiple parking lots with one DSS system.

For drivers, the ANPR 2.0 camera controls the access to the parking lot when integrated with a barrier gate, enabling a touchless and “ticket-less” passage of vehicles and avoiding possible car congestion.

It’s economical.

The Dahua ANPR 2.0 cameras are easy to install and have multiple mounting options, so your ANPR solution will be up and running in no time. It supports multiple backends – it can stand alone with an SD card, or be used with an NVR or DSS product – so you may be able to leverage existing equipment. Also, only the first device needs access to wire and power cord, other connected devices can be powered by Ethernet cables.

Traffic management market to almost double to $61.9 billion by 2026

According to a research report, on the traffic management market including a global forecast to 2026, published by Marketsandmarkets, this sector is predicted to grow from USD 35.3 billion in 2021 to USD 61.9 billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 11.9% during the forecast period.

The presence of various key players in the ecosystem has led to a competitive and diverse market say the analysts. The market includes a high growth rate for the adoption of eco friendly automobile technology and the introduction of MaaS in the market. A growing need for operational efficiency, and recent government mandates also plays a major role in the high growth rate of the market.

However, there are significant growth opportunities for traffic management vendors. The researchers found that small firms and start-ups are also marking their presence in the market by providing their offerings across the world, and that the traffic management industry is gradually adopting advanced technologies which integrate and coordinate the flow of traffic in various regions for the benefit of both vehicles and pedestrians, to reduce environmental impact and to increase the overall traffic efficiency.

In the traffic management market by solution, the route guidance and route optimisation segment is expected to record a higher growth rate over the forecast period. Traffic management solutions ensure that every traffic control centre becomes coupled with a subsystem, such as traffic light systems and other detection devices, to establish a proper integration of traffic control. The hardware and software systems are in conformity with international standards.

Incident detection and location systems hold the largest share

By system type, it is the incident detection and location systems field that is expected to hold the largest market size. This technology detects, verifies, and resolves incidents quickly, as video analysis is a well-established technology in the traffic management sector for traffic incident monitoring. The real-time camera images detect a variety of incidents; and thus, lives are saved. Video Incident Detection Systems (VIDS) consists of a network of cameras that automatically detect events and ensure appropriate responses. Traffic management systems assist in organising, managing, and coordinating traffic operations from a centralised information system.

European market is the strongest

Europe is expected to hold the largest market size in the global traffic management market during the forecast period. According to the analysts, this is because the European market has diverse business needs. Enterprises in this region have a strong technical expertise and analysts suggest that they also have bigger IT budgets. The UK is the most developed economy, contributing significantly to the growth of the traffic management market.

The key and emerging market players in the traffic management market as cited by the research and included in the report are companies such as, Cisco, Siemens, IBM, Thales, Kapsch Trafficcom, Flir Systems, Huawei, Chevron, Invarion, Sensys, Telegra, Citilog and Bercman.

British chemical plant in Czech Republic upgrades security

A revamped G4S security solution at the chemical industry company Synthomer’s operational centre in the Czech Republic ensures that employees and valuable assets are protected from potential threats.

The Sokolov region in western Czech Republic, not far from the German border, is home to an operational centre for the British chemical industries company Synthomer, one of the world’s foremost suppliers of water based polymers. Synthomer’s polymers are used to manufacture many everyday products: from the medical gloves used by doctors and dentists, and the sound damping in cars, to the backing of carpets in the office.

As with any site where chemicals are stored and used, security is a top priority and the G4S team in the Czech Republic has recently revamped the entire security solution at the site to give the best protection to Synthomer’s staff, property and other important assets.

Risk-based approach

“G4S always takes a risk-based approach with our security solutions” explains Pavel Nerheš, G4S Project Development Manager in the Czech Republic. “We visit the site and carry out a thorough risk assessment, and then we design a tailored integrated security solution for our customer based on their unique risks and assets that they need to protect.”

There are a number of risks and threats to consider when preparing the security for a chemical site. “Strong measures to prevent unauthorised entry into the perimeter and to key buildings within the site were essential” said Pavel. “You have to consider the assets that are held on site that you do not want to fall into the wrong hands, such as important technology that is used in the chemical manufacturing process, as well as further restricting access to high hazard zones within the site.”

As part of the new integrated security solution, G4S redesigned the perimeter security for the site, which covers a large 4km2 area, with cameras with video analytic functionality and new IP speaker systems. The cameras automatically detect potential intruders and instantly send information to the on-site security operation centre where G4S mobile patrol officers, who are permanently on site with patrol vehicles, can quickly respond.

Protection

In any risk assessment for chemical sites the threats that have to be considered include terrorist attacks and organised crime attacks. “We have highly trained security officers located throughout the site, we’ve installed new mechanical barriers in key areas, and our new guest kiosks (Visitor Management System) at entrance sites ensure strict access control and recording of any vehicles and visitors.” said Pavel.

“This means that Synthomer can have confidence that we always know who is on site, and that we can quickly respond to any threats or incidents.”

G4S will also carry out annual risk assessments of the site and security solution for Synthomer to ensure that it remains as effective as possible in protecting the site and employees from evolving threats.

Milan Brejchal, Synthomer Site Manager, said: “Security is very important to us because of the high potential for security and safety risks at a site like ours. We would like to thank G4S for their professional approach. As a result of their expert risk assessments and installations the integrated security system on site optimises our current measures, mitigates risks and helps us to create a more secure environment for our employees.”
