Suprema Obtains ISO/IEC 42001 Certification for AI Management Systems
Suprema has announced that it has obtained the ISO/IEC 42001 certification, the international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS), providing independent verification of the company’s governance framework for the use of AI in its access control and physical security solutions. The certification covers AI-based biometric authentication and identity verification across the BioStation and BioEntry product lines, as well as the BioStar platform. Rather than evaluating product performance, the standard assesses the organizational processes for AI governance, including policies, risk management, accountability, and oversight. The independent certification provides customers with additional assurance that Suprema’s AI governance practices have been established and verified by an accredited certification body.
The company says the certification will be particularly valuable for customers in the public sector, healthcare, financial services, and other regulated industries, where transparent AI governance is becoming an increasingly important factor in vendor selection.
ISO/IEC 42001 also provides a foundation for compliance with future regulatory requirements, including the European AI Act, whose provisions will be gradually extended to high-risk AI systems.
