Messe Frankfurt Middle East to co-locate three shows to capitalise on visitor and exhibitor synergies

Intersec, Light Middle East, and Prolight + Sound Middle East to run side-by-side in January 2021

Dubai, UAE: Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the regional subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest trade fair, congress and event organisers, is to co-locate three of its exhibitions in Dubai to capitalise on visitor and exhibitor synergies.

Light Middle East, the region’s premier exhibition, conference and awards for lighting design and technology; Prolight + Sound Middle East, the dedicated exhibition and conference for Professional Lighting, Audio and AV Technology; and Intersec, the world’s leading trade fair for security, safety and fire protection, will now run side-by-side at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 24-26 January, 2021.

Prolight + Sound and Light Middle East will skip a 2020 showing, and will return to their usual annual status from 2021 onwards. Intersec, meanwhile, will run as a solo event in its 22nd edition from 19-21 January 2020.

“This is a strategic move to maximise visitor and exhibitor turnout as all three shows share a similar visitor appeal, whether system integrators, installers, specifiers, or consultants,” explained Simon Mellor, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East.

“With all three shows taking place at the same time, exhibitors will meet a more focussed audience and visitors will be able to take in the entire integration range under one roof. We’re creating a powerful event alignment featuring more than 1,700 exhibitors from 60 countries.”

“The co-location also enables us to strengthen the smart home and building automation focus, which will cover audio and video as well as lighting and security,” added Mellor. “It will be a feature of its own sitting between Intersec and Prolight + Sound Middle East. “We also see high growth potential for emergency lighting, PA systems, egress and escape route solutions and intend to build this segment.”

Other developments include the inclusion of an Events Security Pavilion and Conference that will spotlight the entire range of services and products dedicated to securing live events, concerts, festivals and major sporting occasions.

Visitor and exhibitor appeal

Messe Frankfurt Middle East says the show trio will find greater traction among its main target visitor groups which include event organisers, leisure and entertainment operators, hospitality professionals, hotel developers, construction experts, architects, planners and consultants.

“The show combination is likely to attract more relevant visitors, especially system integrators and installers, who may not have been inclined towards the individual events in their smaller formats,” added Mellor.

“Nearly 6,000 trade visitors to Intersec are system integrators or installers, and they would greatly benefit from a wider solutions spectrum that the three shows combined will offer from 2021 on.”

The alignment of Intersec, Light Middle East, and Prolight + Sound Middle East follows a visitor survey of all three events which clearly demonstrated an appetite for the co-location.

More than 1,500 of the Intersec 2019 visitors expressed an interest to visit Light Middle East, while a further 1,125 would also be keen to stop by Prolight + Sound Middle East. Similarly, a large percentage of Prolight and Light Middle East visitors voiced their intent to visit Intersec.

Nour Assafiri, CEO of Venuetech, a Light Middle East Gold Sponsor and exhibitor at Prolight + Sound Middle East, believes the move to co-locate the three events will deepen the product and service offerings for visitors.

“Many of our clients already attend Intersec and our sales teams make the trip down there when the show is on. There’s definitely a cross over for us, especially in the audio/visual space and it will allow us a better platform for us to interact and build relations with existing and prospective customers.

“We’re always the first to support Messe Frankfurt Middle East and we believe strongly in a dedicated event for the audio/visual industry with a good network of attendees. There are very few distributers of AV products and, as a leader in the market, we believe we can offer a better package of products to cater for an expanded visitor demographic.”

Prolight + Sound Middle East, Light Middle East and Intersec will be held from 24 to 26 January 2021.

Hikvision Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary in Europe

This September marks Hikvision Europe’s 10th year since the establishment of the European head office in the Netherlands. The company is proud to look back on its impressive past development and thanks its partners and customers for their loyal support. It is also taking the opportunity to look to the future with plans for expanding its head office and strengthening opportunities for supporting partners.

10 years is a significant milestone for Hikvision Europe. The company achieved dramatic development, both regarding business operations as well as with its employees. From just a few people, the company’s workforce has grown to over 300 dedicated employees serving customers all over Europe. In addition to the establishment of the European head office in the Netherlands, Hikvision Europe opened 8 branch offices in Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and in Romania over the past 10 years. Besides the branch offices, the company established sales offices in Finland, Sweden, Portugal and Belgium. Yet, the existing head office with its 2000m2 of office space and 4500m2 of warehouse space has proven to be at capacity. Plans for an additional building that will double the space available and consultations with the employees are finished and construction will commence by the end of this year. In the words of Hikvision Europe’s General Manager Derek Yang: “The company has grown from tiny nut to big oak.”

Hikvision places great emphasis on its partners and customers. “Our greatest strength is our smooth running ecosystem that connects our customers with our innovative technical knowhow, technical support team, product and solution design capability, strong manufacturing power and our passionate sales network,” says Yang. To date, the company counts more than 600 distributor partners and more than 30,000 installer partners all over Europe. This reflects Hikvision Europe’s longstanding focus on always putting their customers at the center of their activities. “We also want to take this opportunity to thank all our partners for supporting Hikvision in the past 10 years,” Yang continues. “To win the respect from the market and our customers and to bring our business close to our customers is an accomplishment that we have worked long and hard to achieve and it would not have been possible without our valued partners.”

Looking to the future, Yang’s vision for the next 10 years is becoming clear: “My predecessor Jiangfeng Zhi founded Hikvision Europe and lay a solid foundation. When I took over as General Manager of Hikvision Europe, I aimed to restructure the organization into a ‘country-oriented’ system. For the future, I want to expand our business – for example by establishing a local Research and Development division; by setting up a multi-field partner ecosystem; by making our business range more flexible and wider; and by creating more opportunities for our employees, our partners and our customers. But first, let’s start by expanding our Hikvision Europe office buildings to make room for our coming growth.”

Residential sector drives door phone market growth

The global door phone market size is expected to reach USD 5.1 billion by 2025, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc., expanding at a CAGR of 5.7% over the forecast period. The market is driven by consumer spending on security and safety products for home, along with rise in demand from the multi storey residential buildings. Moreover, cost of keeping manual security at every place in a premise is much costlier when compared to automated security devices, thereby resulting in increased sale of door phones in the market.

The researchers found that the market is driven by an increasing number of smart and automated homes in Asia Pacific, along with availability of cost effective products from various regional manufacturers. It can also be integrated with the central security system of the building, thereby making home monitoring easier and safer. These products are in high demand for physically handicapped and older people at home when physically attending the door can be difficult. The invention of high-end video door phones is becoming substantially more popular and it can also provide live conversation with the person without even opening the main door.

The adoption of smart technology and smart control of devices with the help of smart phones is also one of the major reasons behind the growing need for automated home security systems. Door phones connected with smart phones have special features, which allow users to control visitor access even when they are not at home. Additionally, the advancements in door phones including the addition of security alarms, quick access through biometric sensors, and smart control all provide growth opportunities for the market.

Geographically, the Asia Pacific region is expected to expand at the highest CAGR of 7.6% over the forecast period. The market is driven by an increasing number of construction activities in the residential sector. Moreover, growing concerns over safety and security of people living alone in their houses are driving this market. Commercial spaces are also installing these devices at various locations to provide an advanced level of safety and security to employees. Audio door phones accounted for the largest market share in 2018 owing to their increased usage in commercial spaces.

Various strategic initiatives such as new product launches, expansion, and mergers and acquisitions are taken by the key players in order to increase the brand presence in the market. Some of the key players in the business are Aiphone, Panasonic, Fermax, 1byone, Honeywell, ABB, and Legrand.

Hostile drone risk powers anti-drone market

The anti-drone market is expected to grow from USD 499 million in 2018 to USD 2,276 million by 2024, at a CAGR of 28.8%. Researchers, Marketsandmarkets, publishers of this latest report say that the major factors driving the growth of the market are rising incidences of security breaches by unidentified drones and increasing terrorism and illicit activities across the world.

The detection and disruption application is likely to continue to account for a larger share of the anti-drone market during the forecast period. Analysts suggest that the growth is attributed to the increased number of terrorist groups, which are demonstrating the ability to operate a wide range of drones, including armed systems. Furthermore, detection and disruption systems have major applications in the military & defence and homeland security verticals wherein the entry of any unauthorised drone in the prohibited area of a country is detected, and then, the drone is disrupted on the spot.

The anti-drone market for the commercial vertical is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. Key factors responsible for this growth include increased awareness and rapid development of inexpensive drones in the market. Drones are evolving beyond their military origin to become powerful business tools. They have already made the leap to the consumer market, and now they are being put to work in commercial applications such as firefighting, mining, surveying, and farming, among others.

The Americas is likely to account for a major share of the global anti-drone market during the forecast period. Factors contributing to the growth of this market include increasing incidences of security breaches by unidentified drones and a rising number of terrorist attacks in American countries, especially in the US. The dramatic growth in drone accidents and incidences has raised fundamental questions about national security, public safety, privacy regulations. This compelled the government to deploy anti-drone systems to ensure safety and security from illicit drones. The growth can also be attributed to the presence of several key players in this region, such as Airbus Defence and Space (US), Battelle Memorial Institute (US), Department 13 International Ltd. (US), Detect, Inc. (US), and Lockheed Martin Corp. (US).

Thales Group (US), Blighter Surveillance Systems Ltd. (UK), Lockheed Martin Corp. (US), Saab AB (Sweden), Raytheon Co. (US), Dedrone (US), Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (Israel), Security and Counterintelligence Group (SCG) LCC (Switzerland), Droneshield Ltd. (Australia), Liteye Systems, Inc. (US), Theiss UAV Solutions, LLC (US), BSS Holland BV (Netherlands), and Prime Consulting & Technologies (Denmark) are a few of the major players cited by the researchers as being active in the anti-drone market.
